Miss USA 1965
Miss USA 1965 was the 14th Miss USA pageant, held in Miami Beach, Florida on June 4, 1965. This was the first Miss USA pageant to be televised live (on the CBS network), and the first to be a self-contained production, held several weeks before, and independent of, the Miss Universe pageant. The pageant was won by Sue Downey of Ohio, who was crowned by outgoing titleholder Bobbi Johnson of the District of Columbia. Downey went on to place as 2nd runner-up to Apasra Hongsakula of Thailand at Miss Universe 1965. Pageant finalist Dianna Lynn Batts (better known as Dian Parkinson from ''The Price Is Right'') later won the 1965 Miss World USA title, and placed 1st runner-up to Lesley Langley of the United Kingdom at Miss World 1965. The Miss Hawaii USA competition, previously known as Miss Hawaii Universe, is a beauty pageant that selects the representative for the state of Hawaii in the Miss USA pageant. Kiana Yamat of Honolulu was crowned Miss Hawaii USA 2022 on February 19, 2022 at Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. She represented Hawaii for the title of Miss USA 2022. The Miss Kentucky USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Kentucky in the Miss USA pageant. It is currently directed by Proctor Productions and it was formerly directed by Connie Clark Harrison, Miss Kentucky USA 1976. Tara Conner became the first Kentucky delegate to win Miss USA, after being crowned Miss USA 2006. She later finished as fourth runner-up at Miss Universe 2006. Elle Smith later became the second Kentucky delegate to win Miss USA, being crowned Miss USA 2021. Judith Lee Baldwin (born March 26, 1946) is an American film and television actress who replaced Tina Louise in the role of Ginger Grant in ''Rescue from Gilligan's Island'' (1978) and ''The Castaways on Gilligan's Island'' (1979). Miss Arizona USA is the beauty pageant that selects the representative for the state of Arizona in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by its winner. Miss World 1965, the 15th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 19 November 1965 at the Lyceum Ballroom in London, UK. The winner was Lesley Langley of the United Kingdom. Lesley Doreen Langley (born 26 March 1944 in Weymouth, Dorset, with the name Lesley Hill, which she changed to Leslie Langley to make it more artistic) is a British model, beauty queen and actress who was Miss United Kingdom and Miss World in 1965. She became the third woman from her country to win the title, and the second Miss United Kingdom in a row, thus making the United Kingdom the second country to have back-to-back winners.
