Miss Perú 2003
The Miss Perú 2003 pageant was held on April 29, 2003. That year, 38 candidates were competing for the national crown. The chosen winner represented Peru at the Miss World 2003. The Miss Universo Perú was chosen midway through the Miss Peru contest in a Gala de Belleza show, and would enter in Miss Universe 2003. The Miss Earth Perú would enter in Miss Earth 2003. The first runner up would enter in Miss Intercontinental 2003. The rest of the finalists would enter in different pageants. Claudia Ortiz De Zevallos
Claudia Ortiz de Zevallos Cano was Miss Perú 2003. On 9 April 2005, she was third runner-up in the Miss Asia Pacific pageant. Prior to that participation, she was a semi-finalist in both Miss Earth 2002 and Miss Universe 2003 pageants. La Punta District
La Punta is a district of the Constitutional Province of Callao in Peru, and one of the seven districts that make up the port city of Callao. It is located in a peninsula in the western part of the province and is almost entirely surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, except on its northeastern side, where it is bordered by downtown Callao. Officially established as a district on October 6, 1915, the current mayor ('' alcalde'') of La Punta is Pio Salazar (2019-2022). Geography The district has a total land area of 0.38 km². Tacna Region
Tacna (; Aymara & Quechua: Taqna) is the southernmost department and region in Peru. The Chilean Army occupied the present-day Tacna Department during the War of the Pacific from 1885 to 1929 when it was reincorporated into Peruvian soil. Geography The department of Tacna is bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west, the department of Moquegua on the north, the department of Puno on the northeast, the Bolivian La Paz Department on the east, and the Arica-Parinacota Region of Chile on the south. The border between the Tacna Region and Chile is known as ''La Línea de la Concordia''. Ayacucho Region
Ayacucho () is a department and region of Peru, located in the south-central Andes of the country. Its capital is the city of Ayacucho. The region was one of the hardest hit in the 1980s during the guerrilla war waged by Shining Path known as the internal conflict in Peru. A referendum was held on 30 October 2005, in order to decide whether the department would merge with the departments of Ica and Huancavelica to form the new Ica-Ayacucho-Huancavelica Region, as part of the decentralization process in Peru. The proposal failed and no merger was carried out.
