Miss Jones And Son
''Miss Jones and Son'' is a comedy series first broadcast on ITV (TV network), ITV in 1977. It starred Paula Wilcox, Christopher Beeny, Charlotte Mitchell and Norman Bird. It was written by Richard Waring (writer), Richard Waring and produced and directed by Peter Frazer-Jones. Roger Webb wrote the theme song, "Bright Idea" (from the DeWolfe production music album, ''Awakening'' (DWS/LP 3302). Situation Comedy
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Granada Television
ITV Granada, formerly known as Granada Television, is the ITV franchisee for the North West of England and Isle of Man. From 1956 to 1968 it broadcast to both the north west and Yorkshire but only on weekdays as ABC Weekend Television was its weekend counterpart. The ''Up'' series of documentary films follows the lives of ten males and four females in England beginning in 1964, when they were seven years old. The first film was titled ''Seven Up!'', with later films adjusting the number in the title to match the age of the subjects at the time of filming. The documentary has had nine episodes—one every seven years—thus spanning 56 years. Richard Waring (born Brian Barton-Chapple, 26 June 1925 – 5 December 1994) was a British television scriptwriter. Waring was the author of numerous domestic sitcoms from the early 1960s, he worked for both the BBC and ITV. His first success was ''Marriage Lines'' (1961–66) with Richard Briers and Prunella Scales. In '' Not in Front of the Children'' (1967–70), Wendy Craig's dizzy housewife made her first appearance.
