Miss Grand Puerto Rico is a national title bestowed upon a woman chosen to represent Puerto Rico at Miss Grand International, an annual international beauty pageant promoting peace and opposing all forms of conflict. The national pageant of Miss Grand International for Puerto Rico is currently conducted by Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico, Inc., to which MGI PLC, the owner of Miss Grand International, awarded the franchise in 2016. One of the winners of the "Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico" pageant gets the title of Miss Grand Puerto Rico. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Brenda Azaria Jiménez Hernández (born December 10, 1994) is a Puerto Rican model and beauty pageant titleholder who was appointed as Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2016 on March 17, 2016, after the original titleholder, Kristhielee Caride, was dethroned of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico crown. Miss Supranational is an annual international female beauty pageant, started in 2009, and with most contests held in Poland and a parallel male contest, Mister Supranational, began in 2016, also in Poland.
