A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Miss Earth 2012
Miss Earth 2012, the 12th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 24, 2012 at the Versailles Palace in Las Piñas, Philippines. Olga Álava of Ecuador crowned her successor Tereza Fajksová of the Czech Republic at the end of the event. The pageant was broadcast live internationally on Star World and was shown 25 November 2012 at 10:00 a.m. on ABS-CBN, with coverage on Studio 23, TFC-The Filipino Channel, and also on channels of participating counties worldwide. Miss Earth-Air went to Stephany Stefanowitz, a 23-year-old German-Filipino fashion designer and model from Quezon City, Philippines. Miss Earth-Water went to Osmariel Villalobos, a 24-year-old broadcaster from Maracaibo, Venezuela. Miss Switzerland or Miss Universe Switzerland (german: link=no, Miss Schweiz; french: link=no, Miss Suisse; it, link=no, Miss Svizzera) is a national Beauty pageant in Switzerland. The pageant was founded in 1951, where the winners were sent to Miss Universe. History Began in 1951 Miss Switzerland resulted Jacqueline Genton as the first ever Miss Switzerland and won the Miss Europa 1951 title. In 1953 Miss Switzerland was sponsored by Bea Kasse4. Since that year Miss Switzerland winning title automatically competes at Miss Universe competition. Between 1975 and 1976 Miss Switzerland was handled by Sylvia Grivelli (''Valais'') and founded the "Miss Suisse Organisation AG" (also referred to as "Miss Schweiz Organisation AG"). Miss Earth 2021 was the 21st edition of the Miss Earth pageant, held virtually on November 21, 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of the event, Lindsey Coffey of the United States crowned Destiny Wagner of Belize as Miss Earth 2021. This is the first time Belize won the Miss Earth pageant, and any of the Big Four international beauty pageants. In the same event, other elemental winners were also crowned: Marisa Butler of the United States won Miss Earth – Air, Romina Denecken of Chile as Miss Earth – Water, and Jareerat Petsom of Thailand as Miss Earth – Fire. Miss Earth 2020, the 20th anniversary of the Miss Earth pageant, the first virtual coronation of any major pageant in the world. The pageant was held on 29 November 2020 where Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico was succeeded by Lindsey Coffey of the United States at the end of the event. This marked the first time a delegate representing the United States won Miss Earth, becoming the fourth country to win all of the Big Four international beauty pageants at least once. Miss Earth 2018, the 18th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, with the theme "Goddesses of the Earth", was held on November 3, 2018, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Miss Earth 2016
Miss Earth 2016, the 16th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, with the theme "Empowered to make a Change", was held on October 29, 2016, at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. 83 contestants from all over the world competed for the title. Angelia Ong of the Philippines crowned her successor Katherine Espín of Ecuador at the end of the event becoming the second Ecuadorian woman to win the title of Miss Earth and the first since Olga Álava in 2011. Miss Earth 2015, the 15th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on 5 December 2015 at Marx Halle in Vienna, Austria. Jamie Herrell of the Philippines crowned her compatriot Angelia Ong as successor at the end of the event. It was the first time the pageant was held in Europe outside of Asia. It was also the first ever back-to-back victory in Miss Earth history.
