Miss Cultural Harvest Festival is a Malaysian ethnic beauty pageant held annually during the Sarawak Harvest and Folklore Festival since 1999. Background Miss Cultural Harvest Festival is held in conjunction with the Sarawak Harvest and Folklore Festival, one of the highlights of the Gawai Dayak celebration. The Sarawak Harvest and Folklore Festival is the largest in Sarawak in terms of the community involved. The beauty pageant aims to seek a winner who has the grace and poise, articulate with a sound knowledge of Sarawak and its tourism-related subjects. The beauty pageant is open to all single ladies of any background, unlike the traditional ''Kumang Gawai'' pageant where the contestants are of the Dayak community. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Glow & Lovely (formerly Fair & Lovely) is a skin-lightening cosmetic product of Hindustan Unilever introduced to the market in India in 1975. Glow & Lovely is available in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other parts of Asia and is also exported to other parts of the world, such as the West, where it is sold in Asian supermarkets. Miss Universe Malaysia is an annual national beauty pageant that selects Malaysia's representative to the annual Miss Universe contest. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age or any other reason), a runner-up is sent. History The competition was first held in 1964 when the pageant's title was known as "Miss Malaysia" until 1969 and "Miss Malaysia Universe" from 1970 until 2009 also "Miss Malaya" in 1962 and 1963. Miss World Malaysia 2018
Miss World Malaysia 2018, the 51st edition of the Miss World Malaysia and the first edition under a new management was held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Sarawak on 8 September 2018. Present were Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang as well as Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, the wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak and Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports. The winner received a crown worth RM4 million, RM30,000 cash and RM30,000 worth of prizes. Francisca James
Francisca Luhong James (born 14 October 1995) is a Malaysian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2020. She represents her country at Miss Universe 2020, where she ended up did not make it into the Top 21 semi-finalist, thus her journey was marked in the “50 years of unplacement” for Malaysia in Miss Universe history since Josephine Lena Wong in 1970. Miss Malaysia World 2014, the 48th edition of Miss World Malaysia was held at the Corus Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on August 30, 2014. Melinder Bhullar of Kuala Lumpur crowned her successor, Dewi Liana Seriestha from Sarawak at the end of the event. Twenty-one contestants from different states competed for the crown. Dewi then represented Malaysia at the Miss World 2014 held in London, United Kingdom where she received the Miss World Talent 2014 award and made it to the Top 25 quarter-finalist.
