Misra Records is an independent record label based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The label is distributed by Redeye Worldwide. Founded in 1999, Misra Records is home to landmark releases by Destroyer, Phosphorescent, Shearwater, R. Ring (featuring Kelley Deal of The Breeders), Holopaw, Centro-matic, Jenny Toomey, Palomar (band), Great Lake Swimmers, Sleeping States, Southeast Engine, Crooks on Tape (featuring John Schmersal of Brainiac/ Enon), Motel Beds and many more. Redeye Distribution, is an American independent record label based in Hillsborough, North Carolina, United States. It was founded in 1996 by Tor Hansen, Kim Hansen, Glenn Dicker. The label focuses on independent music. History Redeye is represented worldwide with U.S. offices in Hillsborough, NC, as well as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, and New York City; and international offices in London, Berlin, Sydney, and Toronto. The company is also a member of multiple industry-related organizations including Merlin, the Music Business Association, and A2iM. Redeye owns and operates the Yep Roc Music Group, a label group that includes Yep Roc Records, Break World Records, and Studio One Records as well as the Riff City Sounds publishing company. Brainiac (band)
Brainiac (also stylized as 3RA1N1AC), is an American indie rock band from Dayton, Ohio. It was formed in January 1992 by Tim Taylor, Juan Monasterio (Monostereo), Michelle Bodine and Tyler Trent. They disbanded after the sudden death of lead singer Tim Taylor in a car accident on May 23, 1997. History Brainiac was formed in Dayton, Ohio, United States in January 1992 with vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player (particularly Moog synthesizers) Tim Taylor (July 20, 1968 – May 23, 1997), bassist Monostereo ( Juan Monasterio), guitarist Michelle Bodine and drummer Tyler Trent. On March 12, the band played its first show at Wright State's University Cafeteria, under the name We'll Eat Anything. The Black Swans
The Black Swans are an American indie rock band. Jerry DeCicca (Singing, vocals and guitarist, acoustic guitar) and Noel Sayre (viola and violin) form the core of the band. Their debut, ''Who Will Walk in the Darkness with You?'' features Milan Karcic (electric guitar), Matt Surgeson (bass guitar, electric bass, double bass), Joe Peppercorn (piano), and Jovan Karcic (Drum kit, drums). Bears (band)
Bears are carnivoran mammals of the family Ursidae. They are classified as caniforms, or doglike carnivorans. Although only eight species of bears are extant, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety of habitats throughout the Northern Hemisphere and partially in the Southern Hemisphere. Bears are found on the continents of North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Common characteristics of modern bears include large bodies with stocky legs, long snouts, small rounded ears, shaggy hair, plantigrade paws with five nonretractile claws, and short tails. While the polar bear is mostly carnivorous, and the giant panda feeds almost entirely on bamboo, the remaining six species are omnivorous with varied diets. Bablicon
Bablicon was an Elephant 6-related free-jazz band consisting of members of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Gerbils. The band was formed in 1996 when Dave McDonnell (credited as The Diminisher), Jeremy Barnes (as "Marta Tennae"), and Griffin Rodriguez ("Blue Hawaii") teamed up to write and improvise music. Their almost-entirely-improvised album '' In A Different City'' was recorded in Chicago during this time, and later released in 1999. In a unique twist, the band had an audience paint vinyl LP covers while they performed, which were later collected as "painticons" and distributed as the actual album covers for the LP version of the album. The '' Orange Tapered Moon EP'' followed in 2000, recorded during a late night marathon session at WFMU. The LP covers were again created in the same way the ''In a Different City'' covers were. Dead Oceans is an American independent record label formed in 2007 and based in Bloomington, Indiana, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin.
