''Misplaced'' is the sixth studio album by Jewish rock band Moshav. It was produced by Ron Aniello and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, and was released on August 8, 2006 by Jewish Music Group. Production The album was produced by Ron Aniello and David Kopp and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, with engineering by Trina Shoemaker and Clif Norrell. In addition to Moshav, the album features accompaniment by pianist Aaron Embry, guitarist C Lanzbom of Soulfarm, and drummer Matt Chamberlain of Critters Buggin. Musically, the album expands on the band's previously established folk sound with elements of worldbeat and the use of electronic effects. Release and reception The album was released on August 8, 2006. Hal Horowitz of AllMusic gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars, saying, "Some material is a bit undercooked and/or sappy, but in general this makes an excellent introduction to a group that, along with Matisyahu, has the talent to introduce the Western world to a vibrant and innovative combination ... Moshav (band)
Moshav, formerly known as Moshav Band, is an Israeli-American Jewish rock band originating from Moshav Mevo Modi'im. Founded in 1995 by Yehuda Solomon and Duvid Swirsky, the group moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and has released seven studio albums. They are often regarded as one of the first groups to combine Jewish music with a rock sound, as elements of alternative rock, folk, funk, and reggae appear in their songs. History The Israel-born Moshav Band members grew up on Moshav Mevo Modi'im, a musical village located in the hills between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Programming is a form of music production and performance using electronic devices and computer software, such as sequencers and workstations or hardware synthesizers, sampler and sequencers, to generate sounds of musical instruments. Zither
Zithers (; , from the Greek word ''cithara'') are a class of stringed instruments. Historically, the name has been applied to any instrument of the psaltery family, or to an instrument consisting of many strings stretched across a thin, flat body. This article describes the latter variety. Zithers are typically played by strumming or plucking the strings with the fingers or a plectrum. Melodica
The melodica is a handheld free-reed instrument similar to a pump organ or harmonica. It features a musical keyboard on top, and is played by blowing air through a mouthpiece that fits into a hole in the side of the instrument. The keyboard usually covers two or three octaves. Duvid Swirsky
Duvid Swirsky (born April 2, 1976) is an Israeli-American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and composer. He is best known as the guitarist, co-vocalist, and founding member of the Jewish rock band Moshav. He has also performed with the folk rock bands Skyland (with C Lanzbom) and Distant Cousins (with Dov Rosenblatt and Ami Kozak). Early life Swirsky was born in the United States before his family moved to Mevo Modi'im, Israel when he was ten. The village's founder, influential Jewish singer Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, would frequently visit the village and perform for the residents.
