Mishmarot
Mishmarot () is a kibbutz in northern Israel near the town of Pardes Hanna-Karkur. Located about 50 m above sea level and close to the villages Ein Shemer and Kfar Glickson, it falls under the jurisdiction of Menashe Regional Council. In it had a population of . History The village was founded in October 1933, during Sukkot, by immigrants from Soviet Union, Lithuania and Latvia, on Jewish National Fund land, under the auspices of Keren HaYesod. Its name comes from the farm in the Crimea in which the founders trained, called Mishmar (''lit.'' guard shifts). Meir Ariel
Meir Ariel ( he, מאיר אריאל; March 2, 1942 – July 18, 1999) was an Israeli singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was known as a "man of words" for his poetic use of the Hebrew language in his lyrics. His influences included Hebrew poets such as ibn Gabirol, Natan Alterman, S. Y. Agnon and Hayim Nahman Bialik, and American singer-songwriters such as Bob Dylan. Ariel's fame and recognition grew posthumously. Biography Ariel was born on the Fast of Esther in 1942 and grew up in Kibbutz Mishmarot. Since childhood he was a friend of Shalom Hanoch, who also lived there and who went on to become one of Israel's most popular rock artists. Ariel served in the Paratroopers Brigade of the IDF and participated as part of that brigade in the Battle for Jerusalem at the beginning of the Six-Day War. Shalom Hanoch
Shalom Hanoch ( he, שלום חנוך) (born September 1, 1946) is an Israeli rock singer, lyricist and composer. He is considered to be the father of Israeli rock and modern Israeli music in general, both of which have been profoundly influenced by his work. His collaboration with Arik Einstein produced some of the first Israeli rock albums. He is often referred to as "The King of Israeli Rock". Biography Shalom Hanoch was born in Kibbutz Mishmarot in 1946, roughly 16 months before the establishment of the state of Israel. His musical talent as a child was recognized in the kibbutz. The Menashe Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית מנשה, ''Mo'atza Azorit Menasheh'') is a regional council near the city of Hadera, on Israel's north-central coastal plain in the southern Haifa District. Kibbutzim
A kibbutz ( he, קִבּוּץ / , lit. "gathering, clustering"; plural: kibbutzim / ) is an intentional community in Israel that was traditionally based on agriculture. The first kibbutz, established in 1909, was Degania. Today, farming has been partly supplanted by other economic branches, including industrial plants and high-tech enterprises. Kibbutzim began as utopian communities, a combination of socialism and Zionism. In recent decades, some kibbutzim have been privatized and changes have been made in the communal lifestyle. POSH ( he, פו"ש, also Romanized ''Fosh'', an abbreviation for Plugot Sadeh ( he, פלוגות שדה), ''lit.'' Field Companies) was an elite Jewish strike force that served as the commando arm of the Haganah during the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine when the country was under British Mandate control. POSH members were hand-picked by Yitzhak Sadeh, commander of the Jewish Settlement Police. By March 1938, POSH had 1,500 trained fighters divided into 13 regional groups.
