''Miscellaneous Writings'' is a collection of short stories, essays and letters by author H. P. Lovecraft. It was released in 1995 by Arkham House in an edition of 4,959 copies. The volume was originally conceived by August Derleth and ultimately edited by S.T. Joshi with input from James Turner. Jim Turner (editor)
Jim Turner (March 19, 1945 – March 28, 1999) was an American editor and publisher. Turner was editor for Arkham House after the death of August Derleth. After leaving Arkham House, he founded Golden Gryphon Press. Biography James Allen Turner was born on March 19, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1963. He received a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and began graduate school but became the editor at Arkham House in 1973 before he received his degree. As well as overseeing editorial operations at Arkham House generally, Turner himself edited an anthology of Lovecraftian horror for them - ''Cthulhu 2000: A Lovecraftian Anthology'' (1995; reprinted by Del Rey Books). In 1996 he left Arkham House over creative differences with Arkham co-owner April Derleth. Les Mouches Fantastiques
''Les Mouches fantastiques'' ( ''The Fantastic Flies'') was a Canadian underground magazine published between 1918 and 1920. Based in Montreal, Quebec, it is the first known LGBT-themed publication in Canadian and North American history. The magazine arose out of a local writing circle established by poet Elsa Gidlow, with Gidlow and journalist Roswell George Mills as its primary contributors. The publication's working title, prior to the publication of its first issue, was ''Coal from Hades''. Its content included both poetry and non-fiction writing about gay and lesbian identity and politics, as well as editorials opposing the war. The magazine was widely distributed far beyond Montreal, within both gay and lesbian social networks and the underground community of amateur journalists. Frank Belknap Long
Frank Belknap Long (April 27, 1901 – January 3, 1994) was an American writer of horror fiction, fantasy, science fiction, poetry, gothic romance, comic books, and non-fiction. Though his writing career spanned seven decades, he is best known for his horror and science fiction short stories, including early contributions to the Cthulhu Mythos. During his life, Long received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement (at the 1978 World Fantasy Convention), the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement (in 1987, from the Horror Writers Association), and the First Fandom Hall of Fame Award (1977).
