Mirrorring
Mirrorring is a musical collaboration between Liz Harris (of Grouper (musician), Grouper) and Jesy Fortino (of Tiny Vipers). Based in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, the pairing came about after the two musicians had toured together in Europe. Deliberately misspelling their band name for the symmetrical effect that it creates, their debut album, ''Foreign Body (album), Foreign Body'', was released in March 2012 through Kranky (record label), Kranky. Tiny Vipers (born 1983) is the stage name of Jesy Fortino, an American musician from Seattle, Washington. ''Life on Earth (Tiny Vipers album), Life on Earth'' was released on July 7, 2009 on Sub Pop. Luckyhorse Industries released a limited edition 180 gram double vinyl on November 16, 2009, which included a bonus track "Audrey's Well". On January 20, 2012, it was announced that Fortino would be releasing a collaborative album with Grouper (musician), Grouper under the name Mirrorring entitled ''Foreign Body (album), Foreign Body'' on March 19, 2012. Laughter was released on May 5, 2017 on Ba Da Bing Records while Fortino was studying to become an engineer. Grouper (musician)
Grouper is the solo project of American musician, artist and producer Liz Harris (born July 15, 1980). She has released material on her own label and other independent labels since 2005. Grouper released the critically acclaimed '' Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill'' in 2008, followed by five more records, including a two-part album, ''A I A'', and the piano-led album ''Ruins''. Her twelfth album, '' Shade'', was released in 2021. Grouper has collaborated with a number of other artists, including Xiu Xiu, Tiny Vipers (as the duo Mirrorring), Roy Montgomery, The Bug, Lawrence English (as Slow Walkers), and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma (as Raum). Kranky (record Label)
Kranky is an American independent record label in Chicago, Illinois. It was started in 1993 by Bruce Adams and Joel Leoschke. It houses predominantly experimental music artists, often branching into or inspired by ambient, rock, electronic or psychedelic music.
