Miroslav Beblavý
Miroslav Beblavý (born 6 January 1977 in Bratislava, Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak investor, economist, author and former politician. Between 2010 and 2020, he served three terms as an MP of the National Council (Slovakia), National Council of Slovakia. Between 2002 and 2006, he held the post of State Secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family. He was also the chairman of the Together – Civic Democracy party in the 2018-2020 period, co-leading the unsuccessful election coalition with Progressive Slovakia in the 2020 Slovak parliamentary election. Previously, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Slovak Conservative Party, Sieť party. Comenius University
Comenius University in Bratislava ( sk, Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave) is the largest university in Slovakia, with most of its faculties located in Bratislava. It was founded in 1919, shortly after the creation of Czechoslovakia. It is named after Jan Amos Comenius, a 17th-century Czech teacher and philosopher. In 2020, Comenius University had more about 23,000 students and 2,500 faculty members. As are most universities in Slovakia, it is funded mostly by the government. Andrej Hrnčiar
Andrej Hrnčiar (; born 10 July 1973) is a Slovak people, Slovak professional actor and politician, who has been serving as mayor of the city of Martin, Slovakia, Martin since 2006. He had been a professional actor and a restaurant and bar owner before he decided to run in the 2006 mayoral election as an independent. He was elected a member of the National Council (Slovakia), Slovak parliament in 2012 as an independent, although he was nominated by and associated with the Hungarian-minority Most-Hid party. Christian Democratic Movement
The Christian Democratic Movement ( sk, Kresťanskodemokratické hnutie, KDH) is a Christian-democratic political party in Slovakia that is a member of the European People's Party (EPP) and an observer of the Centrist Democrat International. History The party was established in 1990. In the 1990s it was led by Ján Čarnogurský and then since 2000 by Pavol Hrušovský. Before the 2016 elections, it was led by Ján Figeľ. Following the defeat in the elections, Figeľ stepped down from the position and Pavol Zajac became temporary leader until the decisive party meeting on 19 March 2016. Radoslav Procházka (born 31 March 1972) is a Slovak lawyer, former politician and former leader of the political party Sieť. He was an unsuccessful candidate in 2014 Slovak presidential election, running as an independent. The Slovak Conservative Party ( sk, Slovenská konzervatívna strana, abbreviated SKS), formerly known as Network ( sk, Sieť, self-styled #SIEŤ), was a centre-right political party in Slovakia. It was established by Radoslav Procházka, a former member of Christian Democratic Movement (KDH). History The party was founded by Radoslav Procházka in June 2014, after the 2014 presidential election. Sieť polled above 10% being second to Smer and was expected to become the major centre-right party after 2016 parliamentary election. The party received only 5.6% of votes and 10 seats in the actual election. The low support of Sieť was one of many surprises of the election. One of the ways in which ranked voting systems vary is whether an individual vote must express a minimum number of preferences to avoid being considered invalid ("spoiled" or "informal"). It is named after a Slovak Secret Service wiretap file ( sk, Gorila) from the years 2005-2006 which leaked to the internet in December 2011. The file suggests information about politicians, officials and business executives discussing kickbacks in return for procurement and privatization contracts. However the accuracy of the content has not been officially confirmed yet and due to lack of the original tapes it is rather speculation than evidence of true conversations.
