Croatian Composers' Society ( hr, Hrvatsko društvo skladatelja, HDS) is a professional organization of composers in Croatia. The society has more than 300 full and over 9000 associate members. The full membership is available to composers, musicologists and music writers, whose applications are processed by a panel of members who evaluate the professional, artistic, or scientific merit of the applicant's work. The associate membership is available to music copyright holders - both individuals and legal persons - and entitles them to a share in the distribution of the government-collected blank media tax. The Film Artists' Association of Croatia ( hr, Hrvatsko društvo filmskih djelatnika or HDFD) is a trade union representing artists working in the Croatian film industry. Founded in May 1950 the association has around 400 members in its eight departments (one each for film directors, cinematographers, art directors, actors, film editors, producers, stunt performers and animators). According to its mission statement HDFD seeks to encourage the freedom and quality of local film making; promote Croatian films; cooperate with similar trade associations; connect people involved in all aspects of film making; promote enforcement of intellectual property rights; participate in the creation of regulatory legislation concerning the film industry; negotiate collective bargaining agreements that establish pension and health plans for film workers and performers; and organize various film-related events and round tables. Metak (band)
Metak was a Croatian rock band. It was founded in Split, then Yugoslavia, and disbanded in 1981. Their song, "Da Mi Je Biti Morski Pas" (Wish I Were A Shark), was a mega hit, later covered by another Split band, Osmi Putnik, and it also became a movie of the same name. They released two albums, ''U Tetrapaku'' (In Tetrapak) and ''Ratatatatija''. The band was officially formed at the end of 1978 by bassist Mirko Krstičević. The first lineup was Ranko Boban, (singer) Mirko Krstičević, (bass) Matko Jelavić, (drums) and Željko Brodarić Jappa (guitar). After Boban's departure, Brodarić took over vocals and his brother, Zlatko, also joined the band as a guitarist. The band has released 2 studio albums and three singles, Metak disbanded in 1981. Differences from the original composition may include reharmonization, melodic paraphrasing, orchestration, or formal development.
