Mircea Ștefănescu (born 2 December 1936) is a Romanian water polo player. He competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics and the 1964 Summer Olympics. Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. Beliu ( hu, Bél) is a commune in Arad County, Romania. Beliu commune lies in the contact zone of Teuz Plateau with Mărăuș Hills, along the river Beliu. The 1960 Summer Olympics ( it, Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1960), officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad ( it, Giochi della XVII Olimpiade) and commonly known as Rome 1960 ( it, Roma 1960), were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy.
