Miranda Downes
Miranda Downes (27 February 1950 – 3 August 1985) was an Australian screenwriter. Ernest Arthur Knibb was convicted of her murder. Miranda (known as Mandy) attended Cumberland High School (Carlingford). She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales. Subsequently, she completed a course in "script writing" at the National Institute for Dramatic Arts (NIDA). She worked as a production secretary in the film industry when she wrote an original script, ''Undercover'' (1983). She later started working on a script called ''Cane'' about Italian cane cutters in Queensland, when she was murdered on a beach north of Cairns. Ernest Knibb was arrested after an investigation by the TV show ''60 Minutes''. David Elfick
David Elfick (born 20 December 1944) is an Australian film and television writer, director, producer and occasional actor. He is known for his association with writer-director Phillip Noyce, with whom he has collaborated on films including ''Newsfront'' (1978) and ''Rabbit-Proof Fence'' (2002). Career Elfick began his film career as the producer of the 1971 surf movie ''Morning of the Earth'', directed by Alby Falzon. In 1973 Elfick collaborated with surfer, writer and cinematographer George Greenough as producer-director of ''Crystal Voyager''. This became one of the most successful Australian surf movies ever made, grossing over A$100,000 on its first release, followed by six-month run in London, where it ran on a double bill with René Laloux's ''Fantastic Planet'' and grossed over UK£100,000. ''Undercover'' is a 1983 Australian film directed by David Stevens. Michael Pare, Geneviève Picot, Peter Phelps, Barry Otto, Nicholas Eadie and Sandy Gore star in the film. The field of fire of a weapon (or group of weapons) is the area around it that can easily and effectively be reached by gunfire. The term 'field of fire' is mostly used in reference to machine guns. Their fields of fire incorporate the beaten zone. The term originally came from the 'field of fire' in front of forts (and similar defensive positions), cleared so there was no shelter for an approaching enemy. Beaten zone is a concept in indirect infantry small arms fire, specifically machine guns. It describes the area between the "first catch" and the "last graze" of a bullet's trajectory. The show premiered on 27 April 1988 and ended 13 December 1988 for a total of 30 weekly episodes of fifty minutes each. The series was created and co-written by Louis Nowra.
