Miran (Xinjiang)
Miran () is an ancient oasis town located on the southern rim of the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang, Northwest China. Located where the Lop Nur desert meets the Altun Shan mountains, Miran was once a stop on the famous trade route known as the Silk Road. Two thousand years ago a river flowed down from the mountain and Miran had a sophisticated irrigation system. Now the area is a sparsely inhabited, dusty region with poor roads and minimal transportation. Archaeological excavations since the early 20th century have uncovered an extensive Buddhist monastic site that existed between the 2nd to 5th centuries AD, as well as the Miran fort, a Tibetan settlement during the 8th and 9th centuries AD. Miran Hladnik
Miran Hladnik (born 19 December 1954) is a Slovenian literary historian, specializing in quantitative analysis of Slovene rural stories and in Slovene historical novel. Life and work Miran Hladnik was born in Jesenice, People's Republic of Slovenia (then part of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia). He studied at the University of Ljubljana, where he graduated from comparative literature and Slovene language in 1978. In 1984/1985, Hladnik spent the academic year at University of Kansas, United States, as Fulbright teaching assistant, teaching Slovene language at the university and also teaching the language in both Kansas City and Pittsburgh, to the local American Slovenes communities. Sayyid Mīr Jaʿfar ʿAlī Khān Bahādur ( – 5 February 1765) was a military general who became the first dependent Nawab of Bengal of the British East India Company. His reign has been considered by many historians as the start of the expansion of British control of the Indian subcontinent in Indian history and a key step in the eventual British domination of vast areas of pre-partition India. Mir Jafar served as the commander of the Bengali army under Siraj ud-Daulah, the Nawab of Bengal, but betrayed him during the Battle of Plassey and succeeded Daulah after the British victory in 1757. Mir Jafar received military support from the East India Company until 1760, when he failed to satisfy various British demands. Cem Sultan (also spelled Djem or Jem) or Sultan Cem or Şehzade Cem (December 22, 1459 – February 25, 1495, ; ota, جم سلطان, Cem sulṭān; tr, Cem Sultan; french: Zizim), was a claimant to the Ottoman throne in the 15th century. Cem was the third son of Sultan Mehmed II and younger half-brother of Sultan Bayezid II, and thus a half-uncle of Sultan Selim I of Ottoman Empire. After being defeated by Bayezid, Cem went in exile in Egypt and Europe, under the protection of the Mamluks, the Knights Hospitaller of St. John on the island of Rhodes, and ultimately the Pope. is a Japanese women's professional shogi player ranked 1-dan. Early life and amateur shogi Nohara was born on August 4, 2003, in Toyama, Toyama. She learned how to play shogi from her father when she was five years old, and then started attending a shogi school in Kanazawa and receiving instruction from a former appentice professional 3-dan named when she was nine years old. Miran Burgić (; born 25 September 1984) is a former Slovenian footballer. Career In the 2005–06 season, while playing for Gorica, Burgič was the top goalscorer of the Slovenian League with 24 goals in 35 games. At that time he was a prospect for French, Swiss and German clubs. However, Burgić signed for AIK in the summer of 2006. In his home debut he scored two goals against Östers IF. Miran Tepeš (born 25 April 1961) is a Slovenian former ski jumper and current ski jumping official who competed for Yugoslavia from 1979 to 1992. He won a silver medal in the team large hill competition at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. His best finish at the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup was 2nd a total of seven times between 1985 and 1990.
