Mirage (Meat Puppets Album)
''Mirage'' is the fourth studio album by the Arizona alternative rock band Meat Puppets. The album was reissued in 1999 by Rykodisc with five additional bonus tracks, including early demos of "The Mighty Zero," "I Am a Machine" and "Liquified" as well as a cover of the Elvis Presley song "Rubberneckin'" and the previously unreleased "Grand Intro." As an added bonus, this album includes an "Enhanced CD" partition for play on home computers. ''Mirage'' offers the promotional video for "Get On Down." Drummer Derrick Bostrom has referred to the album as their " psychedelic epic". Music Chuck Eddy called the music of ''Mirage'' "a sideways brand of cactus-country rock", similar to the Meat Puppets' two preceding albums. Curt Kirkwood
Curtis Matthew "Curt" Kirkwood (born January 10, 1959) is an American musician, best known as the guitarist, singer and primary songwriter for alternative rock group Meat Puppets. Biography Curt Kirkwood formed the Meat Puppets along with his brother Cris on bass, and drummer Derrick Bostrom. The trio went in a hiatus in 1996 after a long career where the band became hailed as one of the premier and innovative indie bands as well as briefly achieving mainstream success in the early 1990s. ''Up on the Sun'' is the third album by the Meat Puppets, released in 1985 by SST Records. The album features a cleaner and more technical sound with a more psychedelic rock feel, in contrast to the sloppy punk approach of their first album (1982), while continuing with the mystical, poetic lyrics and country-inflected songwriting of '' Meat Puppets II'' (1984). ''Meat Puppets II'' is the second album by the Phoenix, Arizona band the Meat Puppets, released in 1984. It is a departure from their self-titled debut album, which consisted largely of noisy hardcore with unintelligible vocals. It covers many genres from country-style rock ("Magic Toy Missing", "Climbing" and Lost") to slow acoustic songs ("Plateau" and "Oh, Me") to psychedelic guitar effects ("Aurora Borealis" and "We’re Here"). The cover art is by Curt Kirkwood and Neal Holliday. Rykodisc reissued the album in 1999 with extra tracks and B-sides, including a cover of the Rolling Stones' ''Aftermath''-era track "What To Do." Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Derrick Bostrom
Derrick Edwin Bostrom (born June 23, 1960) is an American musician. He is a founding member and current drummer of the band Meat Puppets. Although Meat Puppets singer/guitarist Curt Kirkwood wrote the majority of the songs for the band, Bostrom has co-penned several tunes, including the majority of their self-titled debut. Bostrom remained a member until 1996 when the band effectively went on hiatus. Although Curt Kirkwood later revived the Meat Puppets, Bostrom had not performed with the band until August 17, 2017, when he reunited with the Kirkwood brothers for a ceremony, recording of Dusty Notes and the tour surrounding the album.
