''minus20degree'' (abbreviated to ''m20d'') is a contemporary art and architecture exhibition that takes place every 2 years in Flachau, Austria during winter. The exhibition lasts for 3 days in January. The biennale was founded by Theo Deutinger, Stefanos Filippas, Ana Rita Marques, Eliza Mante, and Heinz Riegler. The art biennale has consistently invited artists from around the world, and each edition is thematically defined. Artists are invited by the curators of the exhibition, or (since 2016) selected from an open call by a jury. m20d began as an informal presentation of art films projected onto a screen made from snow. Since then it has organically grown into the art biennale that it is today. Artworks are mostly, if not entirely site specific, and are made especially for the art biennale. Theo Deutinger (born 1971) is a Austrian architect, illustrator, academic, and author. He is the a co-founder of the ''Minus20degree'' art and architecture exhibition, and the author of the 2018 non-fiction book '' Handbook of Tyranny.'' Career Deutinger the owner-operator of Dutch company TD Architects In 2017, he proposed the creation of the island city state ''Europe in Africa''. The European Union-funded ''Europe in Africa'' island nation concept would be located between the continents of Africa and Europe and would allow visa-free travel for anyone seeking refuge, with similar characteristics of a refugee camp, but city-sized and within the protectorate of the EU. In 2018, Deutinger made a series of graphics to illustrate the small number of countries that permit visa-free travel. Kasper König (born 1943) is a German museum director and curator. Career König was born in Mettingen. In 1965 he traveled to New York as a courier on behalf of the Robert Fraser Gallery, where he lived intermittently until 1978. The New Synagogue ( Slovak: Nová Synagóga) of Žilina, Slovakia, was constructed between 1928 and 1931 to the designs of the German modernist architect Peter Behrens. PolakVanBekkum is a Dutch artist duo consisting of Esther Polak and Ivar van Bekkum. Their media and installation works are based on research of movement in time and space. PolakVanBekkum was started by Esther Polak (Amsterdam, 1962). She studied painting at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, and mixed media at the Rijksakademie of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. Ivar van Bekkum joined in 2008. Van Bekkum (Rotterdam, 1965) studied at the Academy of Journalism in Kampen. Initially the work of PolakVanBekkum was seen as part of locative media, when GPS was still a recent technology.
