The Minor League Baseball Umpire Training Academy provides umpire training and development for umpires in Minor League Baseball since 2012. Since Minor League Baseball Umpire Development's inception in 1997, every umpire hired by Major League Baseball has come through the Minor League Baseball Umpire Development system. Facilities The Minor League Baseball Umpire Training Academy is located at the Historic Dodgertown sports facility in Vero Beach, Florida. Vero Beach is a city in and the seat of Indian River County, Florida, United States. Vero Beach is the second most populous city in Indian River County. An umpire is an official in a variety of sports and competition, responsible for enforcing the rules of the sport, including sportsmanship decisions such as ejection. Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. Historic Dodgertown is a multi-sport facility in Vero Beach, Florida where athletes of all ages and skill levels have the opportunity to train, play, and stay together.
