Raheleh "Minoosh" Zomorodinia () is an Iranian-born American interdisciplinary visual artist, curator, and educator. She works in many mediums, including in photography, video, installation, and performance. Her work is informed by the tension between Iran and the United States, as well as explorations of the self, of home, nature, and the environment. She is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Early life and education Raheleh Zomorodinia was born in Tehran, Iran. She is a Muslim. Zomorodinia received a BFA degree (1998) in Photography, and a MFA degree (2008) in Graphic Design, both degrees are from Islamic Azad University in Tehran, Iran. The Djerassi Resident Artists Program is an artists and writers residency in Woodside, California. The residency sits on a 583-acre ranch with a 12-sided cattle barn converted into artist studios. History The program was co-founded in 1979 by Carl Djerassi, the inventor of the birth control pill, and Diane Middlebrook. The residency is competitive and held at no cost to the artists. The Ox-Bow School of Art & Artists' Residency is an artists' residency program in Saugatuck, Michigan, United States, founded in 1908 by artists Frederick Fursman and Walter Marshall Clute, both of whom taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The founding mission of Ox-Bow was to provide a community and laboratory for artistic experimentation away from the city. The founding members of the school were inspired by their studies in French Impressionism and wanted to create a space for plein-air painting in inspiring landscapes. Southern Exposure (SoEx) is a not-for-profit arts organization and alternative art space founded in 1974 in the Mission District of San Francisco, California. It was originally founded as a grassroots, cooperative art gallery in conjunction with Project Artaud which was a live/work artist community. Taraneh Hemami (Persian: ) (born 1960, in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian-born American visual artist, curator, and arts educator based in San Francisco. Her works explore the complex cultural politics of exile through personal and collective, multidisciplinary projects often through site specific installation art or participatory engagement projects. Biography Born in Tehran, she moved to the United States in 1978 to attend college, right before the Iranian Revolution.
