Minnie C. T. Love
Minnie C. T. Love (November 9, 1855 – May 13, 1942) was an American physician and political office holder. She was an active suffragist and a member of the Women of the Ku Klux Klan. Early life and education Minehaha Cecelia Tucker was born on November 9, 1855 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to William Henry and Lizzie Letitia (Roosevelt) Tucker. Her sister, Blanche Roosevelt, was an opera singer and writer. Tucker married Charles Guerley Love on August 16, 1876 in Washington, D.C. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in the late 1870s, where Minnie C. T. Love became involved in the campaign for women's suffrage. Career Medicine Love studied medicine at Howard University College of Medicine. She spent 12 years as the Chief Physician of the Florence Crittenton Home in Denver, Colorado, and served on its board. Women Of The Ku Klux Klan
Women of the Ku Klux Klan (WKKK), also known as Women's Ku Klux Klan, and Ladies of the Invisible Empire, held to many of the same political and social ideas of the KKK but functioned as a separate branch of the national organization with their own actions and ideas. While most women focused on the moral, civic, and educational agendas of the Klan, they also had considerable involvement in issues of race, class, ethnicity, gender, and religion. The women of the WKKK fought for educational and social reforms like other Progressive reformers but with extreme racism and intolerance. Particularly prominent in the 1920s, the WKKK existed in every state, but their strongest chapters were in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Arkansas. Blanche Roosevelt
Blanche Roosevelt (2 October 1853 – 10 September 1898), born Blanche Roosevelt Tucker, was an American opera singer, author and journalist. She is best remembered for creating the role of Mabel in ''The Pirates of Penzance'' by Gilbert and Sullivan when that opera premiered on Broadway in 1879. She made her opera debut in 1876 at the Royal Italian Opera House, Covent Garden and went on to sing in concerts in Europe, having worked as a journalist from Paris in 1875. In 1879, she joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and played the role of Josephine in Gilbert and Sullivan's ''H.M.S. Pinafore'' in London before travelling with the company to New York City to play the same role and to originate the role of Mabel in ''The Pirates of Penzance''. The National Florence Crittenton Mission was an organization established in 1883 by Charles N. Crittenton. It attempted to reform prostitutes and unwed pregnant women through the creation of establishments where they were to live and learn skills.
