Minnesota State Highway 57 (MN 57) is a state highway in southeast Minnesota, which runs from its interchange with U.S. Highway 14 in the city of Kasson and continues north to its northern terminus at its intersection with U.S. Highway 52 in the unincorporated community of Hader in Wanamingo Township. Route description Highway 57 serves as a north–south route in southeast Minnesota between Kasson, Mantorville, Wanamingo, and Hader. Highway 57 is a two-lane undivided highway its entire length, except for a small portion in the city of Kasson. The route begins in Kasson, and heads through the center of town. Two miles north of Kasson, the route enters historic Mantorville and goes by some landmarks, such as the Hubbell House. Hubbell House
The Hubbell House in Mantorville, Minnesota, United States, is one of the oldest working restaurants in the state of Minnesota. It is a contributing property to the Mantorville Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The restaurant is located on Mantorville Avenue (Minnesota State Highway 57), which runs through Mantorville. The building was originally constructed in 1854, but was rebuilt in 1856. History The first structure deemed "The Hubbell House" was built in 1854, four years before Minnesota became a state in 1858, by John Hubbell. It was a two-room log building, and was known by mail carriers and stagecoach travelers as a rest stop along their journeys. The organized system of Minnesota State Highways (typically abbreviated as MN or TH, and called Trunk Highways), the state highway system for the US state of Minnesota, was created in 1920 under the "Babcock Amendment" to the state constitution. No real pattern exists for the numbering of highways. Route commissioning beyond these routes was by legislative action, thus the term legislative route. This included additions and revisions that took place when US and Interstate Highway Systems were commissioned. Minnesota state highway markers use Type D FHWA font for all route numbers and type C for three-digit route markers only if type D font cannot be used. All routes except interstates use or markers. Pine Island is a small city of about 3,500 residents in Goodhue and Olmsted counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Legislative Route (Minnesota)
In the U.S. state of Minnesota, a legislative route is a highway number defined by the Minnesota State Legislature. The routes from 1 to 70 are constitutional routes, defined as part of the Babcock Amendment to the Minnesota State Constitution, passed November 2, 1920. All of them were listed in the constitution until a 1974 rewrite. Though they are now listed separately in §161.114 of the Minnesota Statutes, the definitions are legally considered to be part of the constitution, and cannot be altered or removed without an amendment. Legislative routes with numbers greater than 70 can be added or deleted by the legislature. Until 1933 Constitutional Routes corresponded exactly to the number marked on the highways, but this is no longer necessarily the case.
