Minnesota Senate
The Minnesota Senate is the upper house of the Legislature of the U.S. state of Minnesota. At 67 members, half as many as the Minnesota House of Representatives, it is the largest upper house of any U.S. state legislature. Floor sessions are held in the west wing of the State Capitol in Saint Paul. Committee hearings, as well as offices for senators and staff, are located north of the State Capitol in the Minnesota Senate Building. Each member of the Minnesota Senate represents approximately 80,000 constituents. History The Minnesota Senate held its first regular session on December 2, 1857. Goodhue County, Minnesota
Goodhue County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 47,582. Its county seat is Red Wing. Nearly all of Prairie Island Indian Community is within the county. Goodhue County comprises the Red Wing, MN Micropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN- WI Combined Statistical Area. History The county was created on March 5, 1853, with territory partitioned from Wabasha County. It was named for James Madison Goodhue (1810–1852), who published the first newspaper in the territory, ''The Minnesota Pioneer''. Milo White (Minnesota Congressman)
Milo White (August 17, 1830 – May 18, 1913) was an American businessman and politician who served as a United States representative from Minnesota. Early life White was born in Fletcher, Vermont, on August 17, 1830. He attended local schools and Bakersfield Academy. He moved to Chatfield, Minnesota, in 1855 and engaged in mercantile pursuits. Career White served as the chairman of Chatfield's board of supervisors when the city was organized in 1858. He served in the Minnesota Senate from 1872 to 1876, and again from 1881 to 1882. Pine Island, Minnesota
Pine Island is a small city of about 3,500 residents in Goodhue and Olmsted counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota. Most of Pine Island is in Goodhue County, but a small part extends into Olmsted County, making that portion part of the Rochester metropolitan area. The community has a strong agricultural base, but has been transitioning over time into a bedroom community for nearby Rochester, which employs many local residents. Large development is planned for the Olmsted County side as it becomes a Rochester suburb, including the Elk Run Bioscience Park and Minnesota's first diverging diamond interchange.
