Minna No Ie
(also known as ''All About Our House'') is a 2001 comedy film written and directed by Japanese director Kōki Mitani. The film is about an affluent couple who decide to build a new house, and the clash between traditional Japanese and modern western styles between the people they hire to build it. Cast members include Naoki Tanaka (Iijima Naosuke, the husband), Akiko Yagi (Iijima Tamiko, the wife), Toshiaki Karasawa (Yanagisawa, the interior designer) and Kunie Tanaka (Tamiko's father, the builder). The film was nominated for six Japanese Academy Awards. Naoki Tanaka and Akiko Yagi were named as Newcomers of the Year; Tanaka also won the Most Popular Performer prize. Kōki Mitani
is a Japanese playwright, screenwriter, actor and film director and was previously married to Japanese actress Satomi Kobayashi. He was named after ''Taihō Kōki'', the youngest sumo wrestler to become yokozuna. He studied dramatics at Nihon University. In an attempt to add his own character to his movies, as a director he takes most of his scenes with a one-scene=one-shot system, moving the camera around as opposed to cutting. He claims this comes from his experience in theatre, where there are no cuts. Kiichi Nakai
is a Japanese actor. His name was given by Yasujirō Ozu. His father, Keiji Sada, also a movie actor, died when Nakai was only two years old. Nakai started his acting career while he was still in university and was awarded the Rookie of the Year at the Japan Academy Awards in 1981.
