Ministry Of Gas Industry
The Ministry of the Gas Industry (Mingazprom; russian: Министерство газовой промышленности СССР) was a government ministry in the Soviet Union responsible for the Soviet oil industry and related sectors. It was created in 1957 as the Main Administration for the Gas Industry; renamed State Production Committee for the Gas Industry in 1963. It received its ministerial title in 1965. In 1989 Gazprom was established as a successor to the ministry. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, assets outside of Russia were transferred to national companies such as Ukrgazprom and Turkmengazprom. Sabit Atayevich Orujev ( az, Sabit Atababa oğlu Orucov, russian: Сабит Атаевич Оруджев; 31 May 1912, Baku – 20 April 1981, Moscow) was Azerbaijani Soviet politician, Deputy Prime-minister of Azerbaijan SSR (1957-1959), Deputy Minister of Oil Extracting Industry of USSR (1965-1972), Minister of Gas Industry of USSR (1972-1981) and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1981). Viktor Stepanovich Chernomyrdin (russian: Ви́ктор Степа́нович Черномы́рдин, ; 9 April 19383 November 2010) was a Soviet and Russian politician and businessman. He was the Minister of Gas Industry of the Soviet Union (13 February 1985 – 17 July 1989), after which he became first chairman of Gazprom energy company and the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of Russia (1992–1998) based on consecutive years. He was a key figure in Russian politics in the 1990s and a participant in the transition from a planned to a market economy. From 2001 to 2009, he was Russia's ambassador to Ukraine.
