The Ministry of Finance (MOF) is the governmental body in the Sultanate of Oman responsible for all government financial matters. The current Finance Minister is Sultan bin Salem bin Saeed al-Habsi. History The first financial agency was established in January 1941, and the financial affairs were managed by Sultan of Oman. The name of the ministry of changed from the Ministry of Finance and Economy to the Ministry of Finance in the year 1995. Emblem Of Oman
The national emblem of Oman () is Khanjar Bo Sayfain, an insignia consisting of a ''khanjar'' inside its Scabbard, sheath that is superimposed upon two crossed swords. Adopted in the 18th century as the badge of the House of Al Said, Omani royal family, it subsequently became the National emblem, national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman. Cornelius James Pelly
Cornelius James Pelly, CMG, OBE (8 April 1908 – 1985), was an Irish-born colonial official and diplomat. Pelly was the eldest son of Hyacinth Albert Pelly and Charity Maria Matthews of Heronsbrook, County Galway. Pelly was educated at Clongowes Wood College and Trinity College Dublin, from which he received a B.A. in 1928. He joined Indian Civil Service in 1931, becoming a member of the Indian Political Service in 1927 and a member of Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service from 1947 to 1955. During this time he served as Political Agent in Bahrain (1947–1952) and Kuwait (1952–1955). From 1955 to 1956 he was in the service of Abdullah III Al-Salim Al-Sabah. Pelly was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1944. In 1952 he became a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George. Qais Al-Zawawi
Qais bin ʿAbdul-Munʿim Az-Zawāwī ( ar, قَيْس بِن عَبْدُ ٱلْمُنْعِم ٱلزَّوَاوِي; 27 August 1935 – 11 September 1995) was the second foreign minister for the Sultanate of Oman, and later from 1982 served as Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Financial affairs until his tragic death on September 11, 1995, in the Salalah accident, whilst in the car with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and his brother Dr Omar bin Abdul-Mun'im Al-Zawawi, the external liaison for the Sultan. Before returning to Oman, after the Sultan deposed his father in a bloodless coup, the deputy prime minister, Qais Al Zawawi studied in India and then moved to Dubai, where he set up the Pepsi-Cola Operations with Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the then Ruler of Dubai (1958–1990), and Sultan bin Ali Al Owais and Mohamed Yehia Zakaria, both prominent business men. Darwish and Darvish (and in French more prominently Darwich and Darwiche) are alternate transliterations of the Persian word " dervish", used in ar, درويش, referring to a Sufi aspirant. There is no v sound in most Modern Arabic dialects and so the originally Persian word is usually pronounced with a w sound in Arabic.
