The Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) is the Ministry (government department), government ministry responsible for health in Zimbabwe, health in Zimbabwe. Retired General Constantino Chiwenga, Constantino Dominic Chiwenga was appointed to head the Ministry in September 2018. On the 7th of July 2020, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa dismissed Moyo from the office of Cabinet Minister, removing him for "conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister". This was after Moyo had been arrested and charged with three counts of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer, for his alleged participation in a scam that involves tens of millions of dollars. The Permanent Secretary was Dr. Agnes Mahomva, who in 2018 took over from Major General Dr Gerald Gwinji. Zimbabwe was once a model functional healthcare system in post colonial Africa, boasting a strong primary healthcare system and skilled healthcare workers under the Mugabe administration. Obadiah Moyo is a Zimbabwean politician and former hospital administrator. In 2018, he was appointed the country's Minister of Health and Child Care. Pagwesese David Parirenyatwa (born August 2, 1950) is a Zimbabwean politician who served in the government of Zimbabwe as Minister of Health from 2013 to 2018. Previously he served as Minister of Health from 2002 to 2009. He is a medical doctor by profession. Timothy John Stamps (15 October 1936 – 26 November 2017) was a Welsh and Zimbabwean politician and doctor who served in the Government of Zimbabwe as Minister of Health from 1986 to 2002. For most of that period, he was the only white member of the government. Early life and career Stamps was born in Wales in 1936. After completing medical training at Cardiff Medical School, he initiated training in Paediatrics before becoming a GP in Newport, South Wales. He gained experience in Public Health in South Wales before moving, with his then wife and children, to Rhodesia in 1968 as Medical Officer of Health for Salisbury.
