The Ministry of Defence of Moldova is one of the thirteen ministries of the Government of Moldova. It is the main executive body responsible for the managing of the Armed Forces of Moldova. History Pre-history During the era of the Moldavian Democratic Republic, defence policy was handled by the Director General for Armed Forces, who was a member of the Council of Directors General. Anatolie Nosatîi
Anatolie Nosatîi (born 12 September 1972) is the Ministry of Defense (Moldova), Minister of Defence of the Republic of Moldova. Early life and career From 1987 to 1990, he studied at the Frunze Republican Boarding School in the Moldovan capital. After 1990, he studied in Ukraine, attending a command school in Kyiv before going to study at the Odessa Military Academy, Military Academy in Odessa. Center Of Military History And Culture
The Center for Culture and Military History ( ro, Centrul de Istorie și Cultură Militară) is an institution of the Moldovan National Army under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense. Founded on 18 August 2011, its mission is to develop fundamental investigation into Moldovan military history. It has cooperated with foreign historical institutions such as the Romanian National Military Archives and the NATO Information and Documentation Centre. In February 2017, the book ''Homage and Gratitude'', which was in memory of those who fell in the Transnistria War, was unveiled at the center. It has also played host to multiple events, including the first meeting of the National Council for War Veterans Affairs in 2020 and the meeting of Moldovan alumni of the George C. Ion Costaș
Ion Costaș (born 22 February 1944) is a Moldovan military officer and a former minister of interior (1990–1992) and Defence (1992). He is a leader of the Democratic Forum of Romanians in Moldova. Biography Ion Costaş was born in 1944 in the village of Țarigrad (Drochia District) in a peasant family of Romanian ethnicity. Between 1949 and 1957, he was with his parents in Kazakhstan, where they had been deported following conviction of 25 years of hard labor (being accused of being accomplice with fascists). He graduated Higher Military Aviation School from Kharkiv (1967), Gagarin Air Force Academy in Moscow (1976) and the Police Academy in Moscow. The 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade "Dacia" is an motorized infantry unit of the Moldovan National Army's Ground Forces based in Cahul. History The Dacia Motorized Infantry Brigade in Cahul was created on February 24, 1992, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova. The brigade was among the first units of the National Army to take the oath of faith to the Republic of Moldova and its citizens on March 4, 1992. The brigade is made up of former Soviet Army units in Cahul and Gagauzia's Comrat. It was among the first units to engage in the Transnistria War in 1992. In 2018, the unit was awarded the State Order "Faith of the Homeland" 1st class. 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade "Moldova"
The 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade "Moldova" is an motorized infantry unit of the Moldovan National Army's Ground Forces based in the Moldovan city of Bălți. It was the first Army unit to be created in the newly independent country, being founded on 10 April 1992. It was made up of elements of former Soviet units in Balti and Florești that used to form the 86th Guards Motor Rifle Division. Among the former Soviet units at Balti and Floresti in 1988 were the 260th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment (Floreshty); the 263rd Guards Motor Rifle Regiment (Balti); the 341st Motor Rifle Regiment (Balti); the 88th Guards Tank Regiment (Florești) and the 191st Guards Artillery Regiment (Balti). Moldovan National Army
The Moldovan National Army ( ro, Armata Națională a Republicii Moldova) is the senior branch of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova composed of the Air Force and the Land Forces. The National Army is considered to be the regular duty military force while the other branch of the armed forces, the Trupele de Carabinieri, is focused on paramilitary activities. Military Bands
A military band is a group of personnel that performs musical duties for military functions, usually for the armed forces. A typical military band consists mostly of wind and percussion instruments. The conductor of a band commonly bears the title of Bandmaster or Director of Music. Ottoman military bands are thought to be the oldest variety of military marching bands in the world, dating from the 13th century. The military band is capable of playing ceremonial and marching music, including the national anthems and patriotic songs of not only their own nation but others as well, both while stationary and as a marching band.
