The Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare ( fa, وزارت تعاون، کار و رفاه اجتماعی پهلوی ) is an Iranian government body responsible for the oversight of Cooperative business, regulation and implementation of policies applicable to labour and social affairs. Abdolreza Sheykholeslami ( fa, عبدالرضا شیخالاسلامی) is an Iranian politician who is the former Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare. Mohammad Abbasi ( fa, محمد عباسی, born 28 February 1958) is an Iranian politician who is the former minister of youth affairs and sports. He was Minister of Cooperatives in the first and second Cabinet of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad from 2005 to 2011. Early life He was born on 28 November 1958 in Gorgan, Golestan Province. He was president of Azad University of Ghaemshahr from 1996 to 2004. Career Abbasi was elected member of the Parliament of Iran from Gorgan constituency and was deputy head of budget center in the Parliament. The history of the cooperative movement concerns the origins and history of cooperatives across the world. Although cooperative arrangements, such as mutual insurance, and principles of cooperation existed long before, the cooperative movement began with the application of cooperative principles to business organization. Beginnings The cooperative movement began in Europe in the 19th century, primarily in Britain and France. The industrial revolution and the increasing mechanisation of the economy transformed society and threatened the livelihoods of many workers. The concurrent labour and social movements and the issues they attempted to address describe the climate at the time.
