Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads was a position within the Australian federal government from 7 October 2003 until 3 December 2007. The outer ministry position of Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads was created in the Third Howard Ministry on 7 October 2003. The first minister to hold this position was Senator Ian Campbell, who held it from 7 October 2003 until 18 July 2004. On 18 July 2004, the position was transferred to Jim Lloyd, then Federal Member for Robertson. When the Fourth Howard Ministry started on 22 October 2004, Lloyd retained the position, and did so until the 2007 Federal Election when Kevin Rudd and the Australian Labor Party won government. Ian Macdonald (Australian Politician)
Ian Douglas Macdonald (born 29 November 1945) is a former Australian politician who served as a Senator for Queensland from 1990 to 2019, representing the Liberal Party. He was Minister for Regional Services, Territories and Local Government (1998–2001) and Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation (2001–2006) in the Howard Government. Alexander Michael Somlyay (born 18 January 1946), Australian politician, was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from March 1990 to August 2013, representing the Division of Fairfax, Queensland. Warwick Leslie Smith AO (born 13 May 1954) is an Australian politician, and was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives from December 1984 to March 1993 and again from March 1996 to October 1998, representing the Division of Bass, Tasmania. Smith attended the Launceston Church Grammar School and the Australian National University, where he studied law, history and political science. He later graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws in 1979. He then worked as a solicitor in Tasmania. Brian Leslie Howe AO (born 28 January 1936) is a retired Australian politician and Uniting Church minister. He served as Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and deputy leader of the Labor Party from 1991 to 1995, under Bob Hawke and Paul Keating. He was a government minister continuously from 1983 to 1996, and a member of the House of Representatives from 1977 to 1996, representing the Division of Batman in Victoria. Margaret Reynolds (; born 19 July 1941) served as an Australian Labor Party Senator for Queensland from 1983 to 1999.
