Minister For Health (Western Australia)
Minister for Health is a position in the government of Western Australia, currently held by Amber-Jade Sanderson of the Labor Party. The position was first created in 1919, in the first ministry formed by James Mitchell, and has existed in every government since, with the minister being responsible for the Department for Health. Prior to 1919, the minister responsible for public health was the Colonial Secretary. The Government of Western Australia, formally referred to as His Majesty's Government of Western Australia, is the Australian state democratic administrative authority of Western Australia. It is also commonly referred to as the WA Government or the Western Australian Government. Hubert Parker
Hubert Stanley Wyborn Parker DSO VD (16 October 1883—26 July 1966) was an Australian politician who represented the Western Australian Legislative Assembly seat of North-East Fremantle from 1930 until 1933, and one of the three Legislative Council seats for Metropolitan-Suburban Province (later known as Suburban Province) from 1934 until 1954. He was a member of the Nationalist Party until 1945, when the party merged into the Liberal Party. Peter Gilbert da Conceição Foss KC (born 24 March 1946 in England) is a former Australian politician, who represented the Liberal Party. Elected to parliament in the 1989 state election, he was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council representing the East Metropolitan Region, he was re-elected in 1993, 1996, and 2001. Keith Wilson (Western Australian Politician)
Keith James Wilson (born 5 September 1936) is an Australian politician. He was born in Kalgoorlie to miner James Wilson and Barbara Jean McKenzie. He attended local public schools and became a teacher, graduating in 1955. After a period teaching at Mount Barker, he trained for the Anglican clergy from 1959 to 1961. From 1961 to 1965 he was the assistant priest for the Scarborough parish, and from 1965 to 1967 he taught in the United Kingdom. On 24 August 1968, he married Angela Joy Hankin, with whom he had two sons. From 1969 he was an Anglican clergyman at Balga. In 1977 he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly as the Labor member for Dianella; he represented this seat until 1983, Nollamara until 1989, and then Dianella again until 1993. He was the first clergyman elected to the Parliament of Western Australia following a change to the constitution. Ian Taylor (Australian Politician)
Ian Frederick Taylor (born 15 March 1949) is a former Australian politician and Western Australian Deputy Premier and Opposition Leader. Taylor was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly in 1981 as the Labor Party (ALP) member for Kalgoorlie. In 1986, he was appointed Minister for Health and also held the Aged Care, Lands and Consumer Affairs portfolios at various times. Following Brian Burke's resignation in 1988, he became Minister for Police in Peter Dowding's ministry, and on Carmen Lawrence's ascension to the premiership in 1990 he became Deputy Premier and Minister for Finance (although his portfolio varied during this time) corresponding to Premier Lawrence also being the Treasurer. Barry Hodge
Barry James Hodge (born 16 February 1944) is a former Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1977 to 1989, representing the seat of Melville. Hodge was born in Melbourne, but moved to Perth with his family as a child, where he attended CBC Fremantle before going on to Perth Technical College. After leaving school, he worked as a broadcasting technician at various local radio and television stations, including 6IX, 6PR, and TVW. Norman Eric Baxter (21 June 1909 – 14 November 2003) was an Australian politician who was a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1950 to 1958 and again from 1960 to 1983. Ross Hutchinson
Sir Ross Hutchinson, DFC (10 September 1914 – 19 December 1999) was an Australian rules footballer, coach and politician. He played for and coached East Fremantle, West Perth and South Fremantle in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) before spending 27 years as a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. Early life Hutchinson was born in Worsley in 1914. He was educated at Deanmill before attending Wesley College in Perth from the age of 14. Football career Hutchinson was used in a variety of positions during his football career including centreman, half back and half forward.
