Minister-President Of Thuringia
The Minister-President of Thuringia, officially the Minister-President of the Free State of Thuringia (german: Ministerpräsident des Freistaats Thüringen), is the head of government of the German state of Thuringia. The position was re-established in 1990 after German reunification. The former districts Erfurt, Suhl, Gera and some adjacent areas of the Halle were incorporated into the new and re-established federal state of ''Thuringia''. The current Minister-President is Bodo Ramelow, heading a minority government between The Left, Social Democrats and the Alliance '90/The Greens. Ramelow succeeded Thomas Kemmerich in March 2020. Ramelow previously served as Minister-President from 5 December 2014 to 5 February 2020. The office of the Minister-President is known as the State Chancellery (german: Staatskanzlei), and is located in the capital of Erfurt, along with the rest of the cabinet departments. Bodo Ramelow
Bodo Ramelow (; born 16 February 1956) is a German politician who has served since 4 March 2020 as Minister-President of Thuringia, an office he previously held from 2014 to 5 February 2020. He is the first head of a German state government to serve non-consecutive terms in office since Eberhard Diepgen, who served twice as Governing Mayor of Berlin (1984–1989 and 1991–2001). A member of The Left, he previously chaired the party's group in the Landtag of Thuringia. On 8 October 2021, he was elected to a one-year term as President of the Bundesrat. His term lasted from 1 November 2021 until 31 October 2022. Political career Ramelow was born and raised in West Germany. Thomas Karl Leonard Kemmerich (born 20 February 1965) is a German politician of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) who served as the Minister President of Thuringia from 5 February to 4 March 2020. With a tenure of only 28 days, he was both the shortest-serving Minister President of Thuringia and the shortest-serving head of a state government in the Federal Republic of Germany. After Reinhold Maier in Baden-Württemberg, he was the second Minister President of the FDP in German history. Life Kemmerich was born in Aachen, West Germany. Christine Lieberknecht
Christine Lieberknecht (born Determann 7 May 1958 in Weimar) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). From 2009 to 2014, she served as the Minister President of Thuringia. Lieberknecht was the first woman to become head of government in Thuringia and only the second woman to govern a German state. Dieter Althaus
Dieter Althaus (born 29 June 1958 in Heiligenstadt/ Eichsfeld) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He served as the 3rd Minister President of Thuringia from 2003 to 2009. In 2003/04 he was the 58th President of the Bundesrat. Early career Althaus was a teacher for Physics and Mathematics at the Polytechnic Secondary School in Geismar, Thuringia, from 1983 to 1989, where he became deputy headteacher in 1987. Bernhard Vogel (; born 19 December 1932) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He was the 4th Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate from 1976 to 1988 and the 2nd Minister President of Thuringia from 1992 to 2003. He is the only person to have been head of two different German federal states and is the longest-governing Minister President of Germany. State Commissioner (Germany)
State Commissioner (german: Landesbevollmächtigter) was the title for the provisional heads of government of the New states of Germany shortly after reunification. German reunification took effect on 3 October 1990, when the German Democratic Republic joined the Federal Republic of Germany as five re-established states. However, elections for the state governments of these five states took place on 14 October 1990 and the Landtag of these states elected the respective Minister-Presidents from late October to early November. Between the reunification and the election of the respective Minister-President, appointed state commissioner took on the role of heads of government, as stipulated by the German Reunification Treaty.
