Mines Rovers Football Club (Goldfields Football League)
Mines Rovers Football Club is an Australian rules football team playing in the Goldfields Football League, a league based in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. Founded in 1898 as Mines Rovers Football Club, the club has enjoyed a long-standing involvement within in the league. One of the first clubs to play Australian football formed within the region, and helped popularise the sport, and supplant Rugby in popularity. The GFL was known as the Goldfields Football Association (GFA) from 1901 to 1907 and 1920–25, and as the Goldfields National Football League (GNFL) from 1926 to 1987. Mines Rovers play home games at Digger Daws Oval, one they are co tenants with other GFL member, Boulder City Football Club. Lou Daily
Louis Joseph Daily (31 January 1911 – 29 August 1974) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) as well as Subiaco in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). Collingwood recruited Daily from Subiaco, who he had played with from 1931 and he made his VFL debut in the 1933 season. He spent just one season with Collingwood before crossing to Geelong for the following season. In his first game for Geelong, in round one against St Kilda, Daily kicked ten goals. He however played most of his football throughout his career in defence, often at fullback. In 1935 he returned to Subiaco and he won both a Sandover Medal and Subiaco best and fairest award that year. He was also a best and fairest again in 1936 and 1937. Australian Rules Football In The Goldfields Region Of Western Australia
Australian rules football has been played in the Goldfields region of Western Australia since the late 1890s, when the Western Australian gold rush brought an influx of immigrants from Victoria and South Australia, bringing the sport with them. For much of the early 20th century, the standard of football in the Goldfields was considered equal to that of the coastal West Australian Football League (WAFL). The Goldfields were awarded a separate seat on the Australian National Football Council from 1903 to 1919, although both leagues combined to form one Western Australian representative team for National Carnivals during this time. West Coast Eagles
The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. The West Australian Football Commission wholly owns the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Football Club, the AFL's other Western Australian team. The 2012 AFL season was the 116th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, with addition of the newly established Greater Western Sydney Giants, which was based in Western Sydney and split its home games between Sydney and Canberra. Eddie Betts
Edward Robert Betts III (born 26 November 1986) is a former Australian rules football player who played as a forward for Carlton and Adelaide in the Australian Football League. Betts was originally drafted by Carlton with pick No. 3 in the 2004 Pre-Season Draft, where he played for nine years before Adelaide signed him as a free agent at the end of 2013.
