Mandarin Immersion Magnet School
Mandarin Immersion Magnet School (MIMS), formerly Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion Magnet School (MCLIMS), is a magnet school in Houston, Texas, United States. It was established in 2012 and is part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD). The school's current campus in the St. George Place area of Houston opened in August 2016; it was previously located in the former Maud Gordon Elementary School in Bellaire, Texas. History The school opened in the former Maud W. Gordon Elementary School. Before 2012, Gordon had no zoning boundary of its own and it drew excess students from apartments west of Bellaire, in Houston, to relieve other schools in Houston west of Bellaire such as Benavidez, Cunningham, Elrod, and Milne. John Mims
John F. Mims (November 10, 1815 – April 30, 1856) sixth mayor of Atlanta and agent of the Georgia Railroad & Banking Company. In the late 1840s he founded a flour mill with Lemuel Grant, Richard Peters and his younger brother William Peters but it didn't do well with competition from Mark A. Ralph Mims (born November 26, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. He is 6'2" and weighs 205 pounds. High school Mims scored 1,916 career points at Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Maine. A four-year starter, Mims dominated his competition at the Class A level (Maine's largest schools). As a senior, Mims averaged 29.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.5 steals per game. Livingston Mims (1833March 4, 1906) was an American politician who served as the 37th Mayor of Atlanta, Georgia during the early 20th century. Biography Born in Edgefield, South Carolina, Mims later moved to Mississippi and represented Hinds County in the state legislature from 1859 to 1861. He was the eldest child of Henry Mims and Susan Burr Read of Edgefield, South Carolina. He had 14 siblings. During the United States Civil War, Major Mims served with the Confederate States Army under General John C. Pemberton and saw action in the Battle of Jackson, Champion Hill and Vicksburg Campaign.
