Vatroslav Mimica
Vatroslav Mimica (25 June 1923 – 15 February 2020) was a Croats, Croatian film director and screenwriter. Early life Born in Omiš, Mimica had enrolled at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine before the outbreak of World War II. In 1942 he joined Young Communist League of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) and in 1943 he went on to join the Yugoslav Partisans, becoming a member of their medical units. Career After the war Mimica wrote literary and film reviews, and his career in filmmaking began in 1950 when he became the director of the Jadran Film production studio. Animation He had his directorial and screenwriting debut in the 1952 Yugoslav film ''In the Storm'' (Croatian language, Croatian: ''U oluji'') which starred Veljko Bulajić, Mia Oremović and Antun Nalis. Eugenio Mimica Barassi (4 November 1949 – 27 March 2021) was a Chilean writer, born in Santiago. He made his literary debut in 1977, with the short story collection ''Comarca fueguina''. In 1979 he published his next book, the short story collection ''Los cuatro dueños'' (Santiago Municipal Literature Award). Further books are ''Travesía sobre la cordillera Darwin'', ''Un adiós al descontento'', ''Enclave para dislocados'', and ''Tierra del fuego, en días de viento ausente''. Neven Mimica
Neven Mimica (; born 12 October 1953) is a Croatian politician and diplomat who has been serving as European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development in the Juncker Commission since 1 November 2014. He was previously the European Commissioner for Consumer Protection in the Second Barroso Commission from July 2013 until November 2014 and was in that regard the first European Union Commissioner from Croatia following its accession to the European Union. Prior to his role in the European Union, Mimica also held a number of governmental posts in Croatia. Namely, he served as the 3rd Minister of European Integration from 2001 until 2003, in both the first and second cabinets of the Social Democratic Prime Minister Ivica Račan. Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (also known as Srđan Mimica; born May 2, 1956) is a Croatian-born American film and television director. He is the son of famous Croatian film director Vatroslav Mimica. He has received three Directors Guild of America awards for his work as an assistant director and is now a regular lead director in episodic television. He has often worked with Steven Spielberg as an assistant director.
