Lope De Vega, Northern Samar
Lope de Vega, officially the Municipality of Lope de Vega ( war, Bungto han Lope de Vega; tl, Bayan ng Lope de Vega), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Northern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 14,690 people. It is bordered in the north by Catarman and Mondragon in the east and the province of Samar in the south. Lope de Vega was created under Batas Pambansa Blg. 69 on May 1, 1980, separating 22 barangays from Catarman. It is named after the Baroque Spanish playwright and poet Lope de Vega. Beetles are insects that form the order Coleoptera (), in the superorder Endopterygota. Their front pair of wings are hardened into wing-cases, elytra, distinguishing them from most other insects. Cerambycidae
The longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae), also known as long-horned or longicorns, are a large family of beetles, with over 35,000 species described. Most species are characterized by extremely long antennae, which are often as long as or longer than the beetle's body. In various members of the family, however, the antennae are quite short (e.g., '' Neandra brunnea'') and such species can be difficult to distinguish from related beetle families such as the Chrysomelidae. The scientific name of this beetle family goes back to a figure from Greek mythology: after an argument with nymphs, the shepherd Cerambus was transformed into a large beetle with horns. Stephan Von Breuning (entomologist)
Stephan von Breuning (21 November 1894 – 11 March 1983) was an Austrian entomologist who specialised in the study of beetles (coleopterology), particularly within the longhorn family (Cerambycidae). Career An amateur working on the rich collections of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, he described 7894 taxa of Cerambycidae. Works The complete list of his entomological works has been published in the ''Bulletin de la Société Sciences Nat'', number 41. One of his most famous works is ''Études sur les Lamiaires'', published in ''Novitates Entomologicae'', 1934–1946. Personal life He gave the photo shown together with a text to be published after his death. Von Breuning lived with his wife in a small studio at the top of an old building on rue Durantin, Paris 18ème. ''Pleurothallis'' is a genus of orchids commonly called bonnet orchids. The genus name is derived from the Greek word , meaning "riblike branches". This refers to the rib-like stems of many species. The genus is often abbreviated as "Pths" in horticultural trade. This was a huge genus, which used to contain more than 1,200 species - the second largest in the Orchidaceae after '' Bulbophyllum''. In 2004, it decreased by more than half when many species were moved into new genera. Distribution ''Pleurothallis'' is a completely New World group, widespread across much of Mexico, Central America, South America and the West Indies. Flora of North America lists one species in Florida ''(P. gelina)'' but this has now been transferred to a different genus, ''Stelis''.
