Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti (; 17 January 1933 – 3 May 1987), professionally known as Dalida, was an Italian-French singer and actress born in Egypt. She sang in eleven languages and sold millions of records internationally. Her best known songs are " Bambino", " Les enfants du Pirée", " Le temps des fleurs", " Darla dirladada", " J'attendrai", and " Paroles, paroles" featuring spoken word by Alain Delon. First an actress, she made her debut in the film '' A Glass and a Cigarette'' by Niazi Mustapha in 1955. Barclay is a French record company and label founded by Eddie Barclay in 1953. Eddie Barclay was a bandleader, pianist, producer, and nightclub owner. With his wife, Nicole, who was the vocalist in his band, he started Barclay. The catalogue included the work of Stéphane Grappelli, Lionel Hampton, and Rhoda Scott. In 1978, 40 % of the label was sold to Polygram. Jazz issues ceased in 1983. Georges Moustaki (born Giuseppe Mustacchi; 3 May 1934 – 23 May 2013) was an Egyptian-French singer-songwriter of Jewish Italo-Greek origin. Alexandre "Sacha" Distel (29 January 1933 – 22 July 2004) was a French singer, guitarist, songwriter and actor who had hits with a cover version of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" in 1970, which reached No 10 in the UK Charts, "Scoubidou", and " The Good Life". Life and career Béart was born Guy Béhart-Hasson (originally spelled Béhar-Hassan) in Cairo, Egypt, to a Sephardic Jewish family, that later sought refuge in Lebanon during his childhood. His mother was Amélia (Taral) and his father was David Béhart-Hasson. Lee Julian Pockriss (January 20, 1924 – November 14, 2011) was an American songwriter who wrote many well-known popular songs and several scores for films and Broadway shows, mainly during the 1960s and 1970s. Early life and career Born in Brooklyn and graduating from Erasmus Hall High School, Pockriss's education at Brooklyn College was interrupted by World War II, where he served as a cryptographer for the US Army Air Force. Eduardo Di Capua (May 12, 1865 – October 3, 1917) was a Naples, Neapolitan composer, singer and songwriter. Biography He was born in Naples in 1865. He is best known for the song "'O sole mio, 'O Sole mio". In 1897, di Capua bought a collection of 23 melodies from an obscure composer, Alfredo Mazzucchi. Di Capua developed the piece, and then invited the poet Giovanni Capurro to write lyrics for it. The resulting song has been recorded by many singers, both classical and popular, in both the original Neapolitan and the English adaptation. He also wrote "Marie, Ah Marie" ("O Marie" in English), another Neapolitan song.
