Milo C. Beach
Milo Cleveland Beach is an American art historian and the former director of the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and the Freer Gallery of Art. Beach is a historian of Indian art, specifically Indian painting. He graduated from Harvard College and credits the music of Ravi Shankar for garnering his interest in Indian culture. Before earning his Ph.D. at Harvard, he was already a curator at the Fogg Art Museum and Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He is an authority on Mughal painting of the Akbar to Shah Jahan periods and has published important catalogues on the subject including ''The Grand Mogul: Imperial Painting in India 1600-1660'' (Williamstown, 1978), now a classic in its fiel He served as the chair of the art department at Williams College. Sir Gordon Howard Eliott Hodgkin (6 August 1932 – 9 March 2017) was a British Painting, painter and printmaker. His work is most often associated with Abstract art, abstraction. Early life Gordon Howard Eliot Hodgkin was born on 6 August 1932 in Hammersmith, London, the son of Eliot Hodgkin (1905–1973), a manager for the chemical company Imperial Chemical Industries, ICI and an amateur horticulture, horticulturist, and his wife Katherine, a botanical illustrator. The Mughal Empire was an early-modern empire that controlled much of South Asia between the 16th and 19th centuries. Padshahnama
Padshahnama or ''Badshah Nama'' ( fa, پادشاهنامه or پادشاهنامه) (Chronicle of the Emperor Shah Jahan) is a group of works written as the official history of the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Unillustrated texts are known as '' Shahjahannama'', with ''Padshahnama'' used for the illustrated manuscript versions. These works are among the major sources of information about Shah Jahan's reign. Lavishly illustrated copies were produced in the imperial workshops, with many Mughal miniatures. Although military campaigns are given the most prominence, the illustrations and paintings in the manuscripts of these works illuminate life in the imperial court, depicting weddings and other activities. The most significant work of this genre was written by Abdul Hamid Lahori, the pupil of Akbar's biographer Abdul Fazal, in two volumes.
