Millisle (horse)
Millisle (foaled 11 May 2017) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2019 she was the best filly of her age in Europe, winning three races including the Curragh Stakes and the Cheveley Park Stakes as well as finishing second in the Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes and ending the season with a rating of 115. She was less successful as a three-year-old but added another major win when taking the Ballyogan Stakes. Background Millisle is a chestnut filly with a white blaze and two white socks bred and owned by the Newtownards-based Stonethorn Stud Farms. The filly was sent into training with Jessica Harrington at Moone, County Kildare. The filly is named after Millisle, a village in County Down. She was sired by Starpangledbanner who was a champion sprinter in Australia before relocating to Europe where he won the Golden Jubilee Stakes and July Cup in 2010 and took the Cartier Champion Sprinter award. County Down
County Down () is one of the six counties of Northern Ireland, one of the nine counties of Ulster and one of the traditional thirty-two counties of Ireland. Old Vic (horse)
Old Vic (26 April 1986 – 21 February 2011) was a Thoroughbred racehorse who won the French Derby and the Irish Derby in 1989. After retiring from racing he went on to become a top national hunt sire. He was one of the first crop of foals by the influential sire Sadler's Wells. Racing career Old Vic made his racecourse debut in a maiden at Newmarket in September 1988 and finished sixth. He started once more as a two-year-old, winning a maiden at Haydock Park. He easily won the Burghclere Stakes at Newbury on his first race of 1989. He then stepped up in class for the Sandown Classic Trial. He faced only two opponents and won the race by four lengths. He followed this up with a win in the Chester Vase at the May meeting. The Yorkshire Oaks is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to fillies and mares aged three years or older. It is run at York over a distance of 1 mile 3 furlongs and 188 yards (2,385 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in August. The Wow Signal
The Wow Signal (27 February 2012 – March 2018) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He raced only as a juvenile in 2014 when he won his first three races including the Coventry Stakes and the Prix Morny. He ran poorly on his only subsequent start and was retired to stud duty. He had fertility problems and sired relatively few foals before dying at the age of six. Background The Wow Signal was a bay horse with a small white star and three white socks bred in Ireland by Tommy Stack. At the Tattersalls Ireland sale in September 2013 the yearling was put up for auction and sold for €13,000 to the Lynn Lodge Stud.
