Alexander William Milligan
Alexander William Milligan (1858 – 30 March 1921) was an Australian accountant, legal clerk, zoological collector and ornithologist. Milligan was born at Sulky Gully, near Ballarat in Victoria. He was educated at Guildford, Victoria. In 1897 he moved to Western Australia where he worked as a temporary accountant with the Department of Lands and Surveys. He was a founding member in 1901 of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union, with which he served as a member of the Checklist Committee. He was also the Honorary Consulting Ornithologist to the Western Australian Museum. In 1908 he moved back to Victoria where he died in St Kilda. Gladys Milligan (1892 — 1973) was an American painter. Biography Born in LaRue, Ohio, McMillan attended the Western College for Women and Westminster College in Pennsylvania. She then studied under George Luks and Hans Hofmann and at the Pratt Institute before traveling to Paris for further instruction with André Lhote and at the Fontainebleau School of Art. She is known to have been active in Washington, D.C. at least as early as 1931, continuing her activities there until at least 1967. Frank William Milligan (19 March 1870 – 31 March 1900) was an English amateur first-class cricketer, who played in two Tests in 1899. He died in the campaign to relieve Mafeking during the Second Boer War. Born in Farnborough, Hampshire, England, Milligan was a talented all-rounder who bowled at a lively pace, fielded well and went for his strokes with the bat.
