Gilead Township is a civil township of Branch County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the township population was 661. There are no incorporated municipalities within the primarily agricultural township. The only concentrated settlements are in two unincorporated communities: *East Gilead is just north of the Indiana state border at . *Gilead is on the east side of Lake Gilead at . Its founding was largely the result of the efforts of Philander Chase, who came here in 1831 with plans to found a college. Running for about in a general north-south direction, connecting rural portions of DeKalb and Steuben counties. SR 327 was originally introduced in the early 1930s routed between Garrett and Corunna. The road was extended north to the Michigan state line in the mid-1930s. In the late 1960s the road was extended south to the city of Fort Wayne. This extension didn't last by the mid-1970s the southern end of SR 327 was truncated to its current location at SR 205. Route description SR 327 starts at an all-way stop with SR 205, and two DeKalb county roads. It heads north as a two-lane highway passing through farmland. The route enters Garrett, concurrent with Randolph Street, and passes through a mix of commercial and residential properties. Indiana State Road 120
State Road 120 (SR 120) is a state road in the north-eastern section of the state of Indiana. Running for about in a general east–west direction, connecting rural portions of Elkhart, Lagrange and Steuben counties. The western terminus is a junction with Jackson Boulevard and Middleton Run Road in Elkhart. The eastern terminus is at the Indiana–Michigan border, east of Fremont. The modern route of SR 120 was originally just small part of a much longer Native American trail. In the early 1920s a project to construct a road replacing the Native American trail took place. SR 120 was introduced in 1937 routed along its current routing, as a state road number for Vistula Road, which was falling apart.
