Alan Millar
Alan Millar FRSE (born 14 December 1947) is the former Head of Philosophy at the University of Stirling, Scotland. He earned his PhD at the University of Cambridge and joined the department at Stirling University in 1971. His primary research interests are philosophy of mind and the theory of knowledge. Geoff Millar
Geoffrey Alan Millar (born 22 November 1955) is a former Australian cricketer who played several matches for Western Australia during the early 1980s. From Perth, Millar played at colts level during the late 1970s, generally as an all-rounder. He made his Sheffield Shield debut for Western Australia during the 1981–82 competition, and failed to take a wicket in what was to be his only first-class match. In the match, against Queensland at the WACA Ground in February 1982, he was part of a pace attack that included David Boyd (who he opened the bowling with in the first innings), Mick Malone, and Ken MacLeay. Millar also appeared at List A level several times for Western Australia. In his first match, the third-place playoff of the 1981–82 McDonald's Cup, he took 2/17 and scored 30 runs, and was thus named man of the match. Maggie Millar
Maggie Millar (born 6 January 1941) alternatively Maggie Miller, is an Australian former actress, artist, writer, radio personality and public relations officer. She is known for her television series roles in '' Bellbird'', ''The Sullivans'' and ''Prisoner'' (1976, 1981-84). Millar came out of retirement when she was offered a part in ''Neighbours'' in 2002. After a year she was written out of the series and again retired in 2007, except for a brief return in a short film in 2016. Penelope Judith Millar (born 1957) is a New Zealand artist, who lives in Auckland, New Zealand and Berlin, Germany. Education Millar received a BFA in 1980 and an MFA from Auckland University's Elam School of Fine Arts in 1983. As recipient of a Scholarship from the Italian Government in 1990, she spent a year in Turin, Italy, where she studied Italian arts of the 1960s and 1970s. Joseph Millar is an American poet. He was raised in western Pennsylvania and after an adult life spent mostly in the SF Bay Area and the Northwest, he divides his time between Raleigh, NC and Richmond, CA. Life Millar received a BA degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967 and an MA degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1970. He has worked as a telephone installation foreman and commercial fisherman and in 1997 gave up this blue collar life to try his hand at teaching. Ian Millar, CM (born 6 January 1947) is a Canadian Equestrian Team athlete for show jumping. He is a two-time winner of the Show Jumping World Cup, and an Olympic silver medalist. Due to his longevity and accomplishments, he is often nicknamed "Captain Canada" in his sport. He holds the record for most Olympic appearances by any athlete in any sport (10). A member of Canada's 2012 Olympic Games team, he broke the record when he took part in his tenth Games in London 2012. Biography Millar was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. George Millar (writer)
George Reid Millar DSO MC (19 September 1910 – 15 January 2005) was a Scottish journalist, soldier, author and farmer. He was awarded the Military Cross (MC) in early 1944 for escaping from Germany while a prisoner of war and making it back to England, which he wrote about in his 1946 book ''Horned Pigeon''. Millar was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) and the French '' Légion d'Honneur'' and the '' Croix de Guerre avec Palmes'' for his service as an SOE officer in France in 1944. He recorded his experiences fighting behind the lines with the local Resistance in his 1945 book ''Maquis''; this book, his most well-known, belongs with others written by British servicemen who fought behind enemy lines including '' Ill Met by Moonlight'' by W.
