Mill River Unified Union School District
Mill River Unified Union School District (MRUUSD) is a school district headquartered in North Clarendon, Vermont. It serves, in addition to North Clarendon, Shrewsbury, Tinmouth, and Wallingford. Its predecessor districts operated under the umbrella organization Rutland South Supervisory Union. History Tinmouth formally switched to the Rutland South supervisory union from the Rutland Southwest supervisory union circa 2013. Prior to the school district merger Tinmouth residents could choose which high school to attend tuition-free, with the majority choosing Mill River. By 2015 the Vermont legislature passed Act 46, requiring school districts to consolidate, prompting the predecessor school districts under the supervisory union to formally consolidate into a unified school district. Shrewsbury is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. Tinmouth, Vermont
Tinmouth is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. The population was 553 at the 2020 census. History Tinmouth was established in 1761 in a region that came to be known as the New Hampshire Grants. At the first U.S. census, the town had a population of 935. Tinmouth's population peaked in 1820, and for the next 150 years the town's population gradually declined, reaching its lowest (268) in 1970. The town reached a population of 567 at the 2000 census, the first time since the 1880 census that it was above 500. In early 2007 the citizens of Tinmouth undertook what turned into an "acrimonious" debate about switching from town meeting to the Australian ballot; two separate votes were held, both close, but ending in the decision to make the switch. Wallingford is a town in Rutland County, Vermont, United States. The population was 2,129 at the 2020 census. Wallingford also contains the villages of East Wallingford and South Wallingford. VTDigger is an investigative journalism platform that reports on politics, businesses, events, and public policy of Vermont. VTDigger was founded in September 2009 by its current Executive Director, Anne Galloway, who was nominated for the "Vermonter of the Year Award" by ''The Burlington Free Press'' in 2016. In 2010, VTDigger merged with the Vermont Journalism Trust, a non-profit organization that currently publishes the site. Mill River Union High School
Mill River Union High School, commonly known as Mill River or MRU is a public junior-senior high school in Clarendon, Vermont. and is part of the Mill River Unified Union School District. MRUUSD includes the towns of Clarendon, Wallingford, Shrewsbury and Tinmouth. Other towns whose students attend Mill River include Ira, Ludlow, Middletown Springs and Danby. The current principal is Kaelyne Thompson. The current superintendent of the district is Brian Hill. Recognition The 2017 '' U.S. News & World Report'' ranked Mill River Union High School as one of the top 10 schools in Vermont.
