Tórshavn
Tórshavn (; lit. "Thor's harbour"), usually locally referred to as simply ''Havn'', is the capital and largest city of the Faroe Islands. It is located in the southern part on the east coast of Streymoy. To the northwest of the city lies the mountain Húsareyn, and to the southwest, the Kirkjubøreyn. They are separated by the Sandá River. The city itself has a population of 13,957 (2022), and the greater urban area has a population of 21,078, including the suburbs of Hoyvik and Argir. The Norse (Scandinavians) established their parliament on the Tinganes peninsula in AD 850. Tórshavn thus became the capital of the Faroe Islands and has remained so ever since. Early on, Tórshavn became the centre of the islands' trade monopoly, thereby being the only legal place for the islanders to sell and buy goods. UEFA Women's Euro 2017 Qualifying Preliminary Round
The preliminary round of the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 qualifying competition involved the eight lowest-ranked teams among the 46 qualifying entrants: Andorra, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta and Moldova. The draw for the preliminary round, where the eight teams were drawn into two groups of four teams, was held on 19 January 2015. 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup Qualification – UEFA Preliminary Round
The preliminary round of the European qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup consisted of the 16 lowest-ranked teams among the 46 entrants. The 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four teams. Each group was played in single round-robin format, where one of the teams was pre-selected as hosts, between 6 and 11 April 2017. The four group winners and the best runner-up (not counting results against the fourth-placed team) advanced to the qualifying group stage to join the 30 direct entrants. Kazakhstan, Albania, Israel and the Faroe Islands advanced as group winners, and Moldova advanced as the best runner-up. Tórsvøllur
Tórsvøllur is a football stadium on the sport site of Gundadalur in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. The stadium holds 5,000 people, and was built in 1999 to become the country's national stadium to provide an artificial grass surface on which international football matches could be played. Previously, the Faroe Islands national team played its home matches in the town of Toftir at Svangaskarð stadium. In August 2011, floodlights were introduced; these were first officially used for the football match between Faroe Islands and Italy on 2 September 2011.
