István Mikola
Dr. István Mikola (born 8 September 1947) is a Hungarian physician and politician, who served as Minister of Health in the first cabinet of Viktor Orbán, between 2001 and 2002. He was also Member of Parliament from Fidesz Fejér County Regional List between 2006 and 2011. Mikola was nominated to the position of Deputy Prime Minister during the 2006 parliamentary election. He was appointed Hungarian Ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as a result he resigned as MP on 28 February 2011. He was replaced by Gábor Cserna. Mikola became Secretary of State for Security Policy and International Cooperation in the Third Orbán Government on 15 June 2014. He held the position until 17 May 2018. Nándor Mikola (born Nándor Josef Mikolajcsik, ; 27 November 1911 – 3 May 2006) was a watercolor painter from Vaasa, Finland, but born in Budapest, Hungary. Following in the footsteps of his father Ignác Mikolajcik, Mikola started studying lithography at the Budapest University for Art and Design in 1928. At the same time he studied painting at the Budapest Free Art Academy under the guidance of . He graduated as a lithographer in 1932 and participated for the first time in a public exhibition at the Obuda district culture house in Budapest, where he displayed his watercolour paintings. Mikola Yermalovich ( be, Ермало́віч Міко́ла Іва́навіч, Mikoła Jermałovič) (April 29, 1921 in Dzyarzhynsk Raion, Minsk Voblast – March 5, 2000) was a Belarusian writer and historian. Biography Ermalovich was born in the village of Maly Novoselki (modern Dzerzhinsky district). He finished a local school and graduated from Minsk Pedagogical Institute in 1947. On graduation he worked as a teacher, school inspector and headmaster. Ermalovich was visually impaired and had to retire at the age of 35. He devoted decades to studying ancient Belarusian chronicles and other primary sources. Criticism Some commentators believe that Yermalovich presented the pseudo-historic conception of Litvinism, which asserts that the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was Belarusian, not Lithuanian. Mikola Viktaravich Statkevich ( be, Мікола Віктаравіч Статкевіч, russian: Николай Викторович Статкевич, translit=Nikolai Viktorovych Statkevich; born 12 August 1956) is a Belarusian politician and presidential candidate at the 2010 election. Since 31 May 2020 he is held in prison by Belarusian authorities. Viasna Human Rights Centre recognized him as a political prisoner. On 14 December 2021, Statkevich was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Biography Mikola Statkevich was born in Liadna near Slutsk into a family of school teachers. Saint Nicholas of Mozhaysk, or Nikola of Mozhaysk (russian: Никола Можайский), is a Russian variation of the Saint Nikolaus traditions. According to the legend, during the 14th-century siege of Mozhaysk city by Mongols, the residents prayed to Saint Nicholas, who announced himself as a huge figure holding a sword in the right hand and the city of Mozhaisk on the palm of the left hand. After seeing such a frightful vision the Mongols retreated. The grateful citizen erected a wooden monument to Saint Nicholas as he was seen during his announcement. The motive became a popular plot for Russian icons and high-reliefs.
