Mikitamäe Parish ( et, Mikitamäe vald) was a rural municipality of Estonia, in Põlva County. It had a population of 998 (as of 1 January 2009) and an area of 104.41 km². Municipalities Of Estonia
A municipality ( et, omavalitsus, plural ) is the smallest administrative subdivision of Estonia. Each municipality is a unit of self-government with its representative and executive bodies. The municipalities in Estonia cover the entire territory of the country. Municipalities in Estonia are of two types: *Urban municipalities or towns (, singular ) *Rural municipalities or parishes (, singular ). There is no other status distinction between them. Municipalities may contain one or several settlements. All but 5 urban municipalities ( Haapsalu, Narva-Jõesuu, Paide, Pärnu and Tartu) plus 1 rural municipality ( Ruhnu) contain only one settlement. As of 2017, there are no longer any "borough-parishes", i.e. rural municipalities with only one borough-type settlement. Ruhnu Parish contains only one village and is therefore a "village-parish". Olli Ungvere
Olli Ungvere (born Olga Marie Birk; 17 June 1906 – 12 December 1991) was an Estonian stage and film actress and singer whose career spanned more than sixty years on the stages of most of Estonia's largest theaters. Early life Born Olga Marie Birk in Lüütja, Mikitamäe Parish, in Setomaa, she was the youngest of two sisters born to Oskar Alfred Julius Birk and Leeno Nass (''née'' Praggi). Her father was a factory worker in the village of Võõpsu. Her mother also had eight children from a previous marriage who were raised by Unvgere's parents. She graduated from secondary school at Räpina Joint Gymnasium in 1924. From 1931 until 1934, she studied singing at the Heino Eller Tartu Music College in Tartu. Stage career In 1931, while still a student at the Heino Eller Tartu Music College, she joined the Vanemuine theatre's operetta chorus.
