Mike Weaver (boxer)
Michael Dwayne Weaver (born June 13, 1951) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1972 to 2000, and held the WBA heavyweight title from 1980 to 1982. Marines Weaver was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1971, and went to Vietnam. During this time he started amateur boxing and training. Professional career Early years By 1972 Weaver was living and training in California, and took up professional boxing. In his early career, Weaver was considered a journeyman opponent. He was frequently brought in on short notice and overmatched against more experienced and developed contenders, and used as a sparring partner for Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton, who famously nicknamed him "Hercules" due to his top developed muscle definition. Arthur Michael Robert Weaver (born May 2, 1978) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Playing career As a youth, Weaver played in the 1992 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Chinguacousy Blues minor ice hockey team from Bramalea, Ontario. He later joined the Richmond Hill-Vaughan Kings of OMHA. After being a 7th round draft choice of the OHL's Guelph Storm in 1995, Weaver decided to remain playing OHA Junior A hockey to maintain his NCAA scholarship eligibility. Weaver played Tier II Jr.A. with both the Thornhill Islanders and the Bramalea Blues. Mike Weaver (politician)
Mike Weaver is a politician and retired military officer from the U.S. state of Kentucky. He served as a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives 1996–2007, representing the 26th District. He was elected the mayor of Radcliff, Kentucky 2015–2018. Weaver is a member of the Democratic Party. Weaver served in the United States Navy as a young man; he later joined the U.S. Army. He fought in the Vietnam War. He became an Army officer after graduating from Officer Candidate School. He is considered a Fighting Dem. In the Kentucky House of Representatives, Weaver helped found a conservative caucus of Democrats in the state House called the Commonwealth Democrats. That group challenged the Democratic House leadership in the fall of 2005 because they felt the leaders had allowed the Republican Party to paint them as liberal.
