Mike Marquardt
Michael Marquardt (born July 10, 1982 in Vista, California) is a former American football defensive tackle. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football at Arizona State. Marquardt has also been a member of the Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins. Early years Marquardt attended Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista, California. He was named a Prep Star magazine All-American and named All C.I.F. and All-league as a senior. He also earned Palomar League Most-Valuable Player honors as a senior when he had 40 tackles and a team-leading 18 sacks while forcing four fumbles and returning one for a touchdown. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. 2008 NFL Draft
The 2008 NFL Draft was the 73rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible American football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 26 and April 27, 2008. For the 29th consecutive year, ESPN televised the draft; the NFL Network also broadcast the event, its third year doing so. Of the 252 selections, 220 were regular selections in rounds one through seven, and 32 were compensatory selections, distributed among rounds three through seven.
