Mike Loynd
Michael Wallace Loynd (born March 26, 1964) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher with the Texas Rangers. College career Michael Wallace was drafted in June 1986 out of Florida State University and made the jump from college to the big leagues in less than two months. At Florida State he had tied an NCAA record by winning 20 games during the '86 season and was largely responsible for their trip to the College World Series. He was the 1986 Golden Spikes Award winner as the best college baseball player in the nation. After an initial flurry of success in the Majors his career flamed out and he was demoted to the minor leagues. He had a career total of 3 wins, 7 losses, an ERA of 5.82 with 81 strikeouts in 111 innings pitched. Professional career Loynd, age 22, made his debut on Thursday, July 24, 1986. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. The Florida State League (FSL) is a Minor League Baseball league based in the state of Florida. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A Southeast before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. The West Palm Beach Expos were a Florida State League minor league baseball team which existed from 1969 through the 1997 season in West Palm Beach, Florida. History The West Palm Beach Expos were a Class A affiliate of the Montreal Expos and played their home games at West Palm Beach Municipal Stadium. Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for Schedule (workplace), roster and position spots, and gives established players practice time prior to competitive play. Spring training has always attracted fan attention, drawing crowds who travel to the warm climates of Arizona and Florida to enjoy the weather and watch their favorite teams play, and spring training usually coincides with spring break for many US students. Robbie Wine
Robert Paul Wine, Jr. (born July 13, 1962) is an American former professional baseball player. A catcher, Wine played parts of two seasons in Major League Baseball for the Houston Astros in 1986 and 1987. He last played professional baseball in 1990. He was the head baseball coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions from 2005–2013. In 2014, Wine managed the Eugene Emeralds, a minor league team in the San Diego Padres organization. Early years Wine graduated from Methacton High School in Norristown, PA in 1980 where he was a stand-out catcher. Playing career Wine was an All-American catcher for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, where he played from 1981–1983. Lloyd Moseby
Lloyd Anthony Moseby (born November 5, 1959) is an American former Major League Baseball player. A center fielder, and good all-around athlete, Moseby's nickname, Shaker, was said to stem from his ability to get away from or "shake" players who attempted to defend him on the basketball court. Career Born in Portland, Arkansas, Moseby graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, California. Moseby's primary sport in high school was basketball and he did not take baseball seriously until his sophomore year of high school. Moseby had committed to play college basketball for St. Mary's, one of 75 schools to offer him a basketball scholarship, if he had not decided to sign with the Blue Jays.
