Mike Lewis (musician)
Michael Richard Lewis (born 17 August 1977) is a Welsh musician. He is best known as the former rhythm guitarist for the Welsh alternative rock band Lostprophets, Welsh/American alternative rock band No Devotion and hardcore punk band Public Disturbance. Early life Lewis studied civil engineering for a year before turning to music. His mother was a shop assistant, and his father worked in management for a chemical company. Lewis attended Hawthorn High School in Pontypridd. His favourite subjects were Science and History. His first concert, as a concertgoer, came when he saw Tesla at St David's Hall. Career Before Lostprophets formed, Lewis was in a band called Public Disturbance. He was initially the original bassist for Lostprophets, but soon became the rhythm guitarist, with Stuart Richardson replacing him on the bass guitar. The Fender Telecaster Deluxe is a solid-body electric guitar originally produced from 1972 to 1981, and re-issued by Fender multiple times starting in 2004. History The popularity of heavy rock in the late 1960s led Fender to re-think its strategy of exclusively using single-coil pickups, as they were not perceived as being suitable for the thick sound and extended sustain favored by heavy rock guitarists using double-coil humbucking pickups. Consequently, Fender hired former Gibson employee Seth Lover, the inventor of the humbucker himself, to design a humbucking pickup for use in a number of Fender guitars. The result was a pickup known as the Wide Range humbucker, and it was used in a variety of different Fender models including the Deluxe, Custom, and Thinline Telecasters as well as a semi-hollowbody design called the Starcaster. Dan Armstrong
Dan Kent Armstrong (October 7, 1934 June 8, 2004) was an American guitarist, luthier, and session musician. Biography Armstrong was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He started playing the guitar at age 11, and moved to New York in the early 1960s in order to work as a studio musician and guitar repairman. In 1965 he opened his own guitar repair shop, 'Dan Armstrong's Guitar Service', on West 48th Street. The building was razed in 1968, and Armstrong relocated his shop, renamed 'Dan Armstrong Guitars', to 500 Laguardia Place in Greenwich Village. In 1968 the Ampeg Company of Linden, New Jersey hired Armstrong as a consultant to improve their Grammer line of guitars. He designed a new line of guitars and basses that were constructed of clear Plexiglas. Lostprophets (stylised as lostprophets) were a Welsh rock band from Pontypridd, formed in 1997 by singer and lyricist Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze. The band was founded after their former band Fleshbind broke up. They later recruited Mike Lewis (guitars) and Mike Chiplin on drums. Lostprophets released five studio albums: ''The Fake Sound of Progress'' (2000), ''Start Something'' (2004), ''Liberation Transmission'' (2006), '' The Betrayed'' (2010), and ''Weapons'' (2012). They sold 3.5 million albums worldwide, achieving two top-ten singles on the UK Singles Chart (" Last Train Home" and " Rooftops"), a No. 1 single on the US Alternative Songs chart ("Last Train Home"), and several Kerrang! Awards and nominations. In December 2012, Watkins was charged with multiple sexual offences against minors, infants and animals.
